I agree. But this was AV's gameplan from training camp based on the roster Nonis gave him, so it's hard for him to change with the same roster he had back then. With every defensive injury, he relies more on his defensive forwards... it's a natural reaction, but it may be worth his while to have guys that can play more often with the puck than those "reliable" players do.

Ill say it again , as of now , WE WIN THE Fitzgerald<> Guennette trade with the Blues! take that St.Louis!!

One of those small moral victories, like the Brad Leeb for Tomas Mojzis deal with Toronto -- Mojzis' 2 points in 13 NHL games is, mathematically, infinitely more productive than Leeb's 0 points in 5 games! Laughing Plus, Nonis parlayed Mojzis into Eric Wenrich.

You wonder why we have so many injuries on the backend?Well here's a theory,AV plays our top offensive guys an average of about 16 minutes per game Shocked He than trys to linematch our checkers with the other teams lineup to the average of 18- 22 minutes per game Shocked Because of this, our D-men spend so much time running around in our own zone that they can't help but incur injuries.

There may be a lot of truth to this. As a possession team, Vancouver has been beyond brutal this season, which is unforgivable when you have the Sedins -- two of the best possession players in the game -- sitting on the bench.

I agree that Vigneault should show a little more faith in his offensive players in all situations, otherwise the struggles become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Makes me glad my team has two regulars who can play both forward and D in the NHL (Streit and Dandenault). We actually had 3 in training camp, but the third (Jamie Rivers) didn't make the team and instead of going to the AHL, signed in Russia.

Jeff Cowan is supposed to be able to play D, though apparently Alex Burrows is first in line for emergency situations. I'd be curious to see either one of them back there (in a curious-to-see-someone-swallow-beetles-on-Fear-Factor kind of way).

Yeah, the question is at what level either Cowan or Burrows could pass themselves off as a defenseman... when you're getting down to ECHL and Major Junior prospects, you have to ask yourself, could Burrows play D at a higher level than these guys? It's not much for versatility if these guys are that far down on your depth chart. The Habs have Dandenault as probably their 10th man on D, so their 11th man would be their #2 AHL d-man (the Habs have their entire top 8 on their 23 man NHL roster). Your guys' #11 is your #4 AHL d-man.
