Now everyone's favorite former closer, John Rocker says not only did he take steroids, but a union doc trained him, A-Rod, and I-Rod on how to take them and Selig knew the whole time.
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7788086/Rocker-says-he-failed-MLB-drug-test-in-2000
I'm guessing sooner or later someone will have to call for Selig's head. Kind of shocked some goofy Congressman hasn't done so already.
Also, Pettitte throws the Rocket under the bus.
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7790120/Report:-Pettitte-backed-McNamee's-story
In other news, 3B Garrett Atkins of the NL Champ Rox signs a 1-year deal. Good to hear, since he doesn't really factor into the team's long-term plans (though I'm worried Ian Stewart won't pan out). Word has it the Rockies are planning to sign Brad Hawpe long-term before he reaches arbitration. Worried that all these players are being signed to long-term deals and what not except for Matt Holliday. But I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the Monfort--at least Rox ownership is following through on their word to pay up to keep most of their talent. |

I posted in the old thread that Holliday signed a 3-year deal. Not a 6 or 7-year deal that seems to be the superstar norm, but the salary looked reasonable. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

This is the biggest waste of time & the biggest bag of horseshit! You can’t sit & spend time & money on guys who’ve already done this. From here on out, the league is going to be conducting regular tests.
It’s embarrassing. I can’t think of any other way to describe it. Our Congress is spending tax dollars and valuable time investigating whether or not a baseball player juiced!
Whatever …. I’ve said this many times before & this joke of a U.S. Government probably won’t read my concerns here anyway. _________________

You said it ... who needs Anti-Espionage Acts passed anyways, when there's this gripping saga of whether someone took steroids 6 years ago, not to mention congress delving into the whole Spygate fiasco
Oh, and Jonathan Papelbon should refrain from speaking publicly
It only proves he's a moron
After suggesting "no one could compete" with the Red Sox this season, when questioned about Clemens he actually said
"Whether he did it or he didn't DID it, ....." _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

Bochy is talking about batting Molina cleanup and Rowand 5th.
Here's my preferred lineup:
LF Winn (the only guy who might take a walk, have a .370 OBP)
3B Frandsen (he would make a great 3b, say no to Crede)
2B Durham (assuming he can come back)
CF Rowand
RF Schierholtz
1B Ortmeier
C Molina
SS Vizquel
Davis should also get 400 AB's this year, and he'll bat leadoff whenever he starts. Guy brings speed and defence. _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!

Brett Myers pulls off one of the all-time great pranks, convincing Kyle Kendrick he's being traded to Japan. Manager Charlie Manuel, Ass. GM Ruben Amaro, the team and the media help out with the prank.

Parasail ballpark looks neat-o. Don't surprised if the Rays finish 3rd in that division this year - they are stacked.
As for a Giants update, the players all seem glad that Barry's gone, but more for the circus that followed him than specifically him. Great story: Kevin Frandsen was struggling mightily two years ago, so Barry made everyone leave the field during the next practice, and he threw BP to Kevin and showed him what he was doing wrong and how to fix it. They stayed there until Kevin got it right, and his hitting improved dramatically after that.
It will be sad to not see Barry in a Giants uniform this season. _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!

Did he have off-season surgery or something? I find it weird that he couldn't find a regular roster spot somewhere. He still hit .292 last year. _________________ It's backwards time. |

Lowry's outing today vs. Texas:
1.0 IP, 0 H, 4 ER, 9 BB, 0 K, 23.14 ERA (he walked 7 of the first 8 batters he faced)
Zito's outing two days ago vs. Oakland:
0.2 IP, 7 H, 8 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, 108.00 ERA
This is going to be a long season... _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!

Will Noah Lowry become the next Rick Ankiel? That's how bad he's been this spring. Depending on who you ask, he still might have nerve problems in his throwing arm. Others say he's actually throwing harder than last year, he's just mentally breaking down.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/03/04/SP9KVCRET.DTL
Still, it's only two spring training outings, so he can still turn it around before the season starts. _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!

Check out this injury update from Rotoworld:
| Quote: |
Kaz Matsui-2B-Astros Mar. 11 - 10:25 am et
Kaz Matsui will miss four to five days with an anal fissure.
That's an unnatural tear or crack in the anus skin, for those of you not in the know. Matsui is expected to be out until at least Friday. Anal fissures can become chronic problems, but the Astros hope using a different medication will sooth Matsui's issue. |
