Do we have a thread like we did on the old site? I couldn't find one.

$7 bargain book from chapers, worth every penny and I'm not finished yet. Lots of great info and anecdotes.

For our Nuckers, what's Willes' everyday stuff like? I don't remember reading much of his stuff...

It's alright, nothing too deep, typical daily hockey writer content, although given his peers, he's one of the better ones (that not being a terribly deep pool to begin with). His stuff is mostly Canuck-centric 'cause it pays the bills.

Finished reading the above book - it's a great read.

I know there were some other people on here who were also reading George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Well, looks like September 30th is the release date for the missing half of A Feast For Crows, titled A Dance With Dragons

This should be a excellent read

Lajoie is a big fan of Jimmy D and Jimmy D is on his Fan590 show pretty much every week(I think), but it's usually later at night(after midnight) so unfortunately I don't get a chance to listen very much.

Yeah now that I think about it he never did get around to killing every character yet.

He came pretty fucking close Confused Though I'm sure he's got about 50 characters he can still do point-of-views for Confused

The wife without me knowing started reading these books as she found them on my shelf. So she came up to me asking where Feast of Crows was and I told her I did not have it as it wasn't out so she asked me to pick it up...so here is the question after Feast of Crows and this other one you speak of is that it or will there be more? Because if this dude is going "wheel of time" never ending series I'd rather just not get anymore of the books for her.

I think I read that there was 7 in the series originally...but I can't remember where I heard that from. And I think that was before he split the fourth boook into 2(Feast for Crows and the new one).

What, you don't like your wife reading books? Laughing

So how did it escape your notice that she was reading these massive fantasy novels anyways? Laughing

She's always is reading stuff so I don't really notice what it is and the way the room is setup I don't pass her side of the bed as it's in the corner. Though yeah it is weird she'd get 2+ books into a series without me noticing she is reading them, that said I might of assumed the series was done and may not of said anything anyhow.

Finally caved and started reading "Rebel Sell"

I know Ian has been hocking this thing for years now, and I can actually see why.

I've always been quietly disdainful of those 'student union, buy nothing, reject the system' types, having dated one in high school... I wish I could go back and personally deliver a copy of this book to each and every one of his smug little friends. Wouldn't it be nice to see their faces when they realized that they were perpetuating the system they decried so vehemently.

Self-righteousness aside, it was a good read, with anecdotes and sidebars to keep it from getting overly dry. I found it to be similar to "Guns, Germs and Steel" (which is also a good read) in tone.

Thanks, Ian!
