It was pretty ugly.
Lots of respect, though to both Mitchell and JR who were obviously concerned - JR even helped the EMTs lift Foster onto the stretcher.
They have to change that rule, though. |

Until Crosby fucks himself up in one of these incidents, they'll keep advocating the "excitement" of the play. _________________ It's backwards time. |

He was already on Fan 590 this morning talking about it. I haven't heard the audio. Yeah, hopefully this isn't a career-ender. Pat Peake is still suffering from his... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Wow. Someone should point out to Bettman that all his efforts to open up the game and make it more exciting should more than make up for the loss of the touch icing rule... How often does this play actually happen in a game that would make it 'exciting'?
Really, the NHLPA should get in front of this, and if the league won't mandate it, then the PA should step up and discourage its members from making plays like this... _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

There's already one of those unwritten rules among the players that you try your best not to make contact when there's a touch icing. For the most part, it's honoured, but despite this guys still get hurt even when there is no contact.
It's the GM's and the owners who'd be responsible for making this change, but I'd love to see Paul Kelly and the NHLPA, and the competition committee really put this issue on the table. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Honestly, why should teams get a chance to negate icing calls anyways? I suppose you get a chance to "wash out" offsides, but I've never seen anyone injured trying to get back onside. Guys are going too fast straight at the boards. It's one thing to chase a puck into the corner, but it's another when you make touching the puck first the only determining factor in whether you "won" the battle or not. _________________ It's backwards time. |

his point about wearing a visor, or fighting being voluntary versus being a defenseman and going hard to the end boards to touch up an icing being mandatory resonated with me. |
