True enough. I'll take the Angels to win the Wild Card. What's the word on Beckett?

You gotta be kidding me. A hawk living in Fenway attacks a girl named Alexa Rodriguez?

Hy EL, no love for Carlos Gomez, eh?
From what I have seen of the kid hes got the speed and hitting ability for leadoff. Doesn't have the power of Hunter but I think a suitable replacement for the future.
The thing with NYY that gets me is look at the mess Girardi made with the kid pitching staff he had in FL. Hopefully he doesn't repeat it in NY.
I still think the Mets have enough issues that not even Johan can fix, definitelywith you on the Braves.

Jays sweep the Boston Red Sox opening weekend, and Skinnem was there for the opener! Woot!

great start for the season - I honestly think this could be their year!

Very Happy

Saw my first game of the year, a 4-3 victory by the Rox over the Braves. Ubaldo Jimenez still has some control issues, but his stuff is just filthy when he does get it over the plate. Corpas manhandled Atlanta in the 9th...at the risk of cursing him, he's definitely the closest thing we've ever had to a dominant closer.

Bats finally seem to be waking up as well.

As for the Braves, I gotta admit I know hardly ANY of the names I saw last night. Apart from Chipper Jones I didn't recognize anyone. Jurrjens, the pitcher, has astounding control, hardly walked anyone (though some of that can be attributed to the Rockies' lack of patience at the plate).

Oh and so far so good for the D-Backs...Mark Reynolds is displaying some surprising power. We'll see if it holds up, but right now I don't see anything getting in their way toward the NL West title.

His honesty about using substances when they weren't banned is a hell of a lot more refreshing than most of what we're hearing.

ABOUT DAMN TIME!

We have a commanding lead going into the 9th against the D-Backs in their park after they've completely wiped their asses with he Rox in every contest previous. Home runs from Clint "Still Here" Barmes and Garrett "Not Here Too Much Longer" Atkins.

Justin Upton is one hell of a player. Him and Mark Reynolds continue their play throughout the season they'll put up some serious numbers and likely get the nod for the MVP award.

LOOK OUT FOR THE GIANTS!!!!!

5-8 record!

John Bowker is the second coming of Barry Bonds.

The kids are hitting, the rotation except for Zito looks strong.

Maybe they won't lose 100 games after all.

Thank Bonds the old guys are getting hurt. Dave Roberts is done, Vizquel is still hurt, Durham has been wonky, Aurilia just plain sucks. Rowand is hurt unfortunately, but if that's what it takes to get Lewis and Bowker in the lineup, so be it.

Velez, Bowker, Lewis, even the Ort - all gamers. I wish Frandsen and Schierholtz were here right now. Crying or Very sad

Wow...that's a long game.

http://tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=234588&lid=sublink04&lpos=headlines_main

The longest game in baseball history at any professional level is 32 innings I believe.

They really should have a home run derby after 10 innings to decide the winner.

I think it's a major likelihood the Jays will absolutely fall apart this season. They are hanging by a thread right now at 9-9.

Christ almighty, they completely jerk Adam Lind around, they cut the Big Hurt to make room for more Zaun/Barajas at-bats after only three freakin' weeks, Rolen is never going to be remotely close to 100%, and Marco Scutaro has an everyday job.

BTW, Giants are up 8-0 on the Cards right now. John Bowker has injected life into this team. Rowand is pretty darn good too.
