A 1-0 loss to the Pens, a team not exactly known for their defensive prowess or their consistent goaltending.
Right now the high-priced players aren't getting the job done. No surprise that Drury is slumping, he's always streaky, but I think the real eye-opener is that Jagr is off to the worst start of his career.
It's a shame but something tells me Renney will get the blame for this, even though I'm blaming coach-killer Gomez and the fact that this team STILL has no reliable offense from the blueline, a problem they did nothing to address. Oh and it doesn't help that neither Drury or Gomez are displaying any chemistry with Jagr and Shanahan.
It's a shame, because defensively this team looks pretty solid. I haven't seen Staal play yet but so far Lundqvist has been as good as ever. But you can't win if you don't score.
Oh, and the Rangers' good fortune with Martin Straka finally ran its course...he's out for a month w/a broken finger.  |

Hmmm... Rangers overpay for high-profile free agents, and team gets worse.
Gah, I swear I've heard this one before, somewhere.
