True, but thinking that the bruins 'are due' is flawed logic too. Do you know how many years the habs suffered at the hands of the devils before they beat them this year?
Really they and the Rags and the penguins and the Caps (who have played us tough all year) are the only teams I'm concerned about.
I would be concerned about the hens, but thanks to Mr. Bell, they are short a couple of very key players...
and if savard has a broken back as he said, he's still playing with pain and i question his ribiero like character - especially when the going is getting really tough for him... _________________ The crowd once again showed its IQ level when it shouted ``U-S-A, U-S-A,'' during the fight. I admire your passion Razz, but it would take a minor miracle for the Bees to beat the Habs four times in a playoff series. _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!

Really. You don't get shootouts in the playoffs, and the games become tight checking, low scoring affairs. That's the hockey we play, and you don't. But now you have to. Advantage us... |

bahahahahahaha
Which one of these was tight?
Mar 20, 2007 - Habs won 1-0
Mar 22 - Habs won 6-3
Apr 3 - Habs won 2-0
Oct 22 - Habs won 6-1
Nov 8 Habs won 2-1
Nov 17 Habs won 7-4
Dec 6 Habs won 4-2
Jan 10, 2008 Habs won 5-2
Jan 22 Habs won 8-2
Mar 20 Habs won 4-2
Mar 22 Habs won 3-2 (SO)
That's a combined score of 48-19 and 11 straight Montreal wins...only 1 shootout.
Mark my words, the Bruins have ZERO chance of winning this series. |

Here's the thing, Razz. All teams that make the playoffs are pretty good -- this is 1991 no longer. So yes, definitely any one of them could knock off any other. Giving Boston no chance is as foolish as when you gave Montreal no chance in 2004.
So with every team being good (and a lot of them having feel-good playoff push stories along the way), everyone thinks their team is underrated heading into the playoffs. The reasoning is simple -- everyone had a good team, and only 1/16 of the focus and discussion of possibilities is on your team, all else being equal, so it seems like you're not getting your fair shake. Fans of every team that is favored assume that is correct, fans of every team seeded lower are convinced that their team is ideally poised for an upset (and/or is being "taken lightly").
Throw into this equation the fact that it's you, and these predictions and proclamations become even more meaningless. The only way you would ever concede that another team might be better is if Boston sucked royally -- but if Boston sucked royally, then they wouldn't be in the playoffs. So when you combine the first two paragraphs with the fact that you always think Boston is the best, there is LITERALLY NOT A SINGLE PLAYOFF SCENARIO where you don't think they will win. Literally, not one. It is not mathematically possible -- if they're in, they've been a pretty good team, so you will think they're unbeatable.
So in essence, if Boston wins the series -- and I'm one of the few acknowledging that this is very well possible -- you will go apeshit and treat these boards like your own personal toilet, undoubtedly repeatedly telling everyone how right you were, they lacked respect, etc., etc., etc. But you won't have "told [anyone] so," because your prediction was invariable and inevitable, and therefore not a prediction at all. It will simply be the proverbial broken clock. _________________

I direct both of you chimpanzees to my revised predictions...
Jyrki and Bosc ride my ass for blindly spewing pro-Bruin garbage.
Harmy rides my ass for being disloyal and picking the Habs in my playoff pool and the avatar bet.
I love this place
Oh and no, I won't treat this place like my personal toilet. I'm still making a dedicated effort to be more civil, as no one here wants to see the venom I sometimes spewed at the old site. That doesn't mean I won't make strong statements of opinion from time to time, but I do not wish to derogate from the enjoyment others get from this site.
IF we win, I will be deliriously happy. I will certainly give it back to the Hab fans - they will have had it coming for a LONG time - but beyond that, nothing. I want the Cup, not just a defeat of the Habs... |

I'm convinced that was entirely in response to my statement above.
In all seriousness, though, while I've picked Montreal to win, you'll notice my equally valid point that it wouldn't be at all cataclysmic if Boston won. (And no one's saying the Bruins suck (edit: except apparently Sam) -- this was my point above -- Montreal is simply seen as able to beat them). _________________

Someone sent this to me and now its stuck in my head. Habs playoff rap from some dude's myspace:

"I believe that it’s meant to be and it Feels a little like ‘93
With failing hands we hold it high And raise number 25 to the sky
I believe we’re right in the mix and it Feels a little like ’86
With failing hands we hold it high And raise number 25 to the sky" |

I tried to buy one of those Canadiens car flags (everyone has one). Sold out everywhere, but most places are getting another shipment this weekend. _________________ Beat my drum down in Mexico! To Tijuana, Tijuana here we go!
