EAST
(1) Montreal vs. (8) Boston- I actually think this might be a tougher series than alot of Habbers think. No team works harder than Boston this year, and the Habs are young enough that an early Bruins victory could swing the series. That said, post-lockout the first round of the playoffs are always over-refed, and Montreal will kill the Bs on the power play. Habs in 5.
(2) Pittsburgh vs. (7) Ottawa
I'll be cheering for the Pens, and on paper they should win it, but I also think this will be a battle of the special teams, and I think the Pens might be let down by their PK. Ottawa will also be running the Pens star players. I'll call it Ottawa in 7, and I'll also predict that even if the Pens make it through the series, they will be missing key pieces and won't go deep.
(3) Washington vs. (6) Philadelphia
Hard one to call, but I 'll go with Philly in 7.
(4) New Jersey vs. (5) NY Rangers
Gomez and Drury will come to play, but the Devils are too disciplined for the Rangers. NJ in 6.
WEST
(1) Detroit vs. (8) Nashville
I like Nashville, but they will get creamed. Wings in 5.
(2) San Jose vs. (7) Calgary
Should be Calgary in 6, but if the Refs call it the way I expect, SJ will clean up on the powerplay, so Sharks in 5.
(3) Minnesota vs. (6) Colorado
Minny has the special teams edge, but I got to go with the old guys in this one. Avs in 7.
(4) Anaheim vs. (5) Dallas
Ducks in 4. _________________ (Working in a Call Centre) + (Being a Leafs Fan) = (One HUGE glutton for punishment)

Last year I went 7/8 on the first round matchups, and I think I did pretty well in the rest of it too. Really, I don't like to make predictions too much. So here they are.
(1) Montreal vs. (8 ) Boston-Montreal in 4 because Jerry Jacobs is a fucking tool. Follow Wirtz and go 6 feet underground.
(2) Pittsburgh vs. (7) Ottawa - Pittsburgh in 4, don't really know why but I want Ottawa to lose and Pitts to go on.
(3) Washington vs. (6) Philadelphia - Washington in 4 because Philly is a bunch of tools except for Mike Richards who is great.
(4) New Jersey vs. (5) NY Rangers - Jersey in 4 because Glen Sather is a tool.
WEST
(1) Detroit vs. (8 ) Nashville - Scott Nichol and Jordin Tootoo are tools. So are Kirk Maltby and Dominik Hasek, but they don't get 8 game suspensions for being idiots. Detroit in 4.
(2) San Jose vs. (7) Calgary - Ville Niemenen played for both of these teams and is a giant tool. Nabakov has the best mask in the league and the funniest stance. Mike Keenan is a tool and shouldn't have an NHL coaching job. Sharts in 4.
(3) Minnesota vs. (6) Colorado - Marian Gaborik is awesome and Peter Forsberg is a tool so Minny in 4.
(4) Anaheim vs. (5) Dallas - Dallas in 4 and this simply needs to explanation. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

I'm going to revise my picks and say Habs in about 6. I still think it's insulting and idiotic to predict a sweep - the Bruins have been getting better against the Habs, not worse, and lady luck is bound to help out here and there rather than killing us like it did all year. Our team isn't nearly as bad as you people think - if not for the Hab issue we'd have been leading the damn conference. Plus, Bergeron and Savard, crippled as they are, are returning. That counts for something...
Oh and Bosc - just because my owner called out your owner for being a fucking overspending shithead doesn't mean you need to call him names. Jacobs has been far more financially responsible than your twat owner. There's a reason our guy is the chairman of the board, and your guy is an ineffective bystander... |
