“Mother” by the Police (from “Synchronicity”)

I was actually going to mention this one as what I'd expect to find on such a list, not actually expecting it to be there.

Secret shame: I actually really like this track. It stands out because it's so different from the rest of the album (which is to be expected when Andy and Stewart were fighting a power-crazed egomaniac in Sting every step of the way). In addition to being musically quite interesting and pretty funny, it's also just a welcome change from Sting's narcissistic 'explorations' on the rest of the album which make it so different from what made the Police appealing in their early years. (It's kind of funny to refer to the early years of a band on a 5-year timeline, but there was a big stylistic change).

The one track that Stewart had to fight for on the album -- "Miss Gradenko" -- is the only one that sounds at all like their earlier stuff, too.

Wow. Where to start with this one.

Don't like Endless, Nameless? Well you probably never listened to more than Smells Like Teen Spirit anyways.....maybe the new Green Day album is more your style.

Unforgiven as the worst song on Metallica's black album? Rolling Eyes

And "Waiting for the Worms"???? You gotta be fucking kidding me. There are giant turds sprinkled all over The Wall. Waiting For The Worms is perhaps one of the most critical elements in telling the story of Pink's decent into madness (and nazi-ism). Compared to Vera and Bring the Boys Back Home, Waiting For The Worms is a masterpiece. The real leftover crap from The Wall ended up on Pink Floyd's aptly named The Final Cut.

"Pollywannacraka: from Pubic Enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet"

Kudos on this choice. Man, that track is annoying. I don't understand it... Is PE trying to do some kind of sexy, laid back groove with some guy rambling about virtually nothing significant whatsoever (and definitely not anything sexy, but that's to be expected). It's a lame track in about every way imaginable.

"My World” by Guns N’ Roses (from “Use Your Illusion II”)

Man... I forgot about this one. Laughing Haven't listened to the Illusions in ages. If someone had asked me about the G n R song that Axl rapped on I'd have given them a confused look.... and I used to know these albums backwards and forwards. But the writer is right on one thing... almost all the tracks don't suck... I just forgot it ended with this thing. Laughing

I'm surprised Bosc still hasn't chimed in on the inclusion of "D'yer Maker" on the survey at the bottom.

Yup, Final Cut is lame.

I'd also argue Synchronicity and Black Album are lame in general, but that's for another discussion. Laughing

Other examples:

"The Lady in My Life" from Thriller
"Cast No Shadow" from What's the Story Morning Glory
"Moonchild" from In the Court of the Crimson King
"Lovely Rita" from Sgt. Pepper
"Family Snapshot from Peter Gabriel (3) aka Melt
Blue Dress from Violator
Surf Wax America from Weezer aka Blue Album

That's a bunch of crap too.

Come on. Have you ever listened to "The Crunge"???

More like the cringe. "Where's that confounded train?" Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Easily the biggest turd Zeppelin laid to that point of their career.

Also - I agree with EL that the Black album is crappy in general. My point is that The Unforgiven is certainly no worse than the rest of the album.

No way, D'yer Maker is fucking brutal Laughing

And yeah, Av, that was what the laughing emoticon was all about Laughing

I have no idea what people's fascination with Supersattelite was from Our Lady Peace's Naveed. I thought that was easily the worst song on that album Confused

Metallica turds? Not Unforgiven. Try "Escape"(I think it's that one) from Ride the Lightning.

"Semi-Charmed Life" from Third Eye Blind. Radio-smashing inducing, that song is. And don't say that it wasn't a good album!

What, "How's It Gonna Be?" and "Graduate" were so much better? Laughing

"Une Annee Sans Lumiere" from Funeral. Yeessh.

While I have no particular affinity for the song, I'm curious as to why you single it out. Never struck me as particularly better or worse than the rest of the album. I would probably place it above "Not One of Us" or "And Through the Wire" at least.

I actually like that track, though his vocals are even more out of control on that song than anything else I've heard from OLP. Laughing I love the drums and guitar riff on it though (spoken like a true non-musician).

Naveed is easily one of my favorite albums. I think though that I agree with you that it's probably the worst song on it though.

Haven't listened to the third album in quite some time...I'll have to give it another listen. "Family Snapshot" never really bothered me though.

Building on the Third Eye Blind radio song bringing down an album, I nominate "Sex and Candy" from Marcy Playground.

The rest of that disc is fkn sweet!

I remember seeing them open for Toad the Wet Sprocket a few years back...wasn't terribly impressed, though that might've been because they were an hour late. Laughing

Sounds about right. I imagine them as being the biggest stoners ever based on the sound of their album.

Fuck would that ever be sweet in Rock Band. I'd even get in on the vocals! "...show the bastards up with our divine....LIGHT.....LIGHT....LIGHT..." Fuck yeah.
