Pros and cons of each potential opponent, one of whom will be in town on Thursday.

Both teams are deep down the middle. Philly has Briere, Richards, and Carter (if he's playing C), while the Rags have Gomez, Drury, and Dubinsky. There's no easy matchup, but the same can be said for them vs. us.

Philly has a better D crew simply because of one man: Kimmo Timmonen. But the Rags have the better goalie, although Biron has traditionally had our number from his Buffalo days.

I want to be the team that beats Sean Avery, but should we hope we do it in Round 3 instead? The Rangers are well rested and a strong veteran group. Philly is coming off a 7 game series and if they win, will have to play their 3rd game in 4 nights on Thursday (in 3 different cities). While no matchup is likely to be easy, you'd have to say the likelihood of ending the series quickly is greater against Philly.

It may seem strange, but without Chara the Bruins series would have been a walk, and that's how I see our 2nd round matchup shaping up.

I see both the Flyers and the Rangers as not having that one superstar defenceman who can shut down our attacking forward lines. How many times did Chara deflect or block a pass on the PP that only a man of his wingspan could do? Hatcher and Malik won't get the job done.

Physically neither team poses much of a threat, to be honest. I don't think either could go past 6 games against us.

Timmonen could stop Kovalev 5 on 5 a fair amount, but you're right about the PP.

I will add this, a very selfish conference final for me would be Montreal-Washington, but who am I kidding... the dream is just about Montreal winning in the end anyways.

Avery and Jagr vs. Komi and Kovalev. Interesting.

Hopefully Kovalev will give Avery one of these beauties:

I never noticed Tucker's blatant attempt at elbowing Kovalev in the head early in the replay before Kovalev got him...

I'm only worried about the F.A.S. mouth breather...
