So... I have not shaved for 2 1/2 weeks and came back from vacation with a full beard. It's the first time I've grown a proper one... I have often went a week or so without shaving just to see where I'd get to. I am currently debating whether to keep it or not. I showed up at work with it to gauge reaction; no one has bursted out in laughter at me so far. Perhaps they are just too polite.

My beard hair is a little darker than my head hair... but the more it grows out the less dark it is. I have also noticed that I have reached a bit of a comfortable phase in my beard growth... it is no longer irritating or itchy. Aside from a small spot under my soul patch area, all areas are growing at a good rate.

So how many OTPers have beards, whether full or partial? Should I get out now while I'm still ahead?

My beard grows in red (and I am otherwise brown-haired), so I'd have the opposite problem. Never gone past the goatee.

I can't grow one. Facial hair grows in some parts but not in others, so if I don't shave it looks like a bunch of disconnected patches.

Well, I was kind of like that for a while, but apparently not so much anymore. It's possible age will cure this ailment when your hormones get lazy and quit bothering to reach all the way to the top of your skull and settle around the jaw and cheek bone areas.

I've done the goatee, never the full-on beard, though I could. It comes in with brown, red and blonde hairs Confused Without the mustache though. It'd be uglier and patchier than Crosby's. Also, there's a disconnect between my stache area and beard.

Here's the pic of it after 2 weeks when I got hit in the eye in ball hockey and couldn't shave. The goatee started earlier than the beard:

I've grown a beard a couple of times in my life and have only ever kept it for 2-3 months.

I can grow one fairly easy with no patches, and my chin area tends to be red.

I have now noticed when I don't shave for a few days that some greys are appearing. Mad

It's a shame the Asian gene keeps me from growing much more than very sparse stubble. My dad grows a great beard. I can't remember the last time I saw him clean-shaven.

Just make sure you keep it trimmed, nobody thinks a neck beard is cool. Besides you'll just look like you were out in the Boonies (and no I don't mean Regina). I'd also recommend shaving it down to a goat, I was always saying my father should ditch the chops, after resisting for years he finally did it and loved the result--it made his face a whole lot slimmer.

I'm not a goat fan, but I generally agree on neck beards. I think a well maintained full beard looks best.

But I doubt I have the wherewithal to go through with that. I think this beard is getting removed by the end of the week for sure. It'll have served its purpose by then.

i've got one right now, i havn't shaved since early may when i ran out of shaving cream, i've just
been using samplers to trim my cheek and neck lines. I love it. but, my fiancee hates it. I love the look of beards (if its kept trim and neat, not those necktes, or those long ass scruffy ones) Probably gonna shave it off later this week. But i can grow a decent one within a week.
its a nice change of pace, guys who can grow good facial hair are lucky i think, yes its annoying to shave every day, but we get to change our look anytime we like.

I've had a full beard / moustache for roughly 15 years. I shave the cheeks and the neck and trim it up regularly so I don't get the "Mountain Man" look.

Never. My facial hair comes in black, brown, blond and red. It also grows in some places and not others. If I were to let it go for a while I'd end up looking like a mental patient trimmed my face with a pair of Swiss Army knife scissors.
