Philly traded their pick for Eminger...interesting.
This shit's taking forever, I could probably go and play a game of NHL 08 again before Detroit picks. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Yup, Detroit takes the American tender from the Storm. Good size on the kid and great rebound control, which is friggin awesome for a young goalie. Supposed to have the best glove in the draft.
Maybe I'll have to get out to Guelph and finally see the Storm play. I was there for 4 years and didn't see them play once.
From tsn.ca:
| Quote: |
24. THOMAS McCOLLUM
PROFILE
Pos: Goaltender
Shoots: R
Height: 6'2
Weight: 170 lbs.
Born: 07/12/1989
From: Sanborn, NY
Team: Guelph (OHL)
RANKINGS
TSN: 24
CSB: 1 NAG
ISS: 2 G
RLR: 43
McK: 25
THN: 38
Comparable: Ed Belfour
From TSN: It was an up and down year for the Guelph Storm goalie, but the young American finished much stronger than he started and should be considered a solid bet to be taken in the first round. If not, it won't be long into the second round before he's chosen.
From NHL Central Scouting: Number one attribute is his net position, it's second to none, there are rarely any holes and he has a great butterfly. When he is challenging and at the top of his game he is very tough to beat.
Year Team GP W L OL GAA SV%
2007-2008 Guelph (OHL) 51 25 17 0 2.50 0.914
2007-2008 Guelph 10 5 5 0 1.91 0.937 |
I like the sound of that. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

It's fitting that the one guy I was saying "Montreal, don't pick" goes to Boston. Colborne is soft as butter and has no reason to succeed. Better hope he is personally motivated, because he doesn't need to earn a dime. Daddy will give him all he ever wants in life.
His career potential is more Eric Daze than Joe Thornton, by the way. TSN was just being nice.
I'm not that fond of the Tanguay acquisition if it's a stand alone proposition. But he's a good complimentary forward regardless, so not a total waste. Because unlike how Calgary viewed him, we don't need him to be a go-to guy. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Holy shit, Phoenix took Tikhonov (the 3rd) in the 1st round? When was the last time a 20 year old went in the first round? That's insane!
Deschamps is still available... I don't know what Gainey can do to move up for him, but try! I do like this inbred for once (especially since choice #1, Gustafsson, is gone)! _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Not only that, they trade two second rounders in the 30s to do it McKenzie said most scouts had him pegged in the third _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

That's right, people who succeed in life generally speaking have no work ethic For the record, the Bruins don't at all buy that he's "soft as butter"... no offense Sask, but I trust Scott Bradley over you, unless of course it's for goalie profiles
On that note, we picked up a French speedster in Maxime Sauve in round two, and this guy in round 3:

Am I reading this right? Kid goes 7 games under .500 and posts a SVP of .912? Then is absolutely lights out when it matters? In the third round why not! |

Oops...sorry Luvah, you don't get Jokinen and you don't get Beach either! He goes to the Hawks.
Of course that Hodgson pick sounds like a good one!
FUCK am I pissed the Avs don't draft until God knows when... |
Not sure if Im disappointed or pissed about OJ. It would be ironic if Gillis didnt do anything either because the "right deal wasnt there"...
I was saying in the Canucks thread , Hodgson sounds like Mike Richards. Thats pretty good to me. I probably would've taken Hodgson over Beach too based on the scouting reports. |

Some familiar names:
Phoenix takes the 4th Staal brother, Jared, at #49. He's the only Staal brother, besides Kim or course, not to go in the first round.
David Toews, brother of Johnny taken in the third round.
Who the fuck is this?

I think Hodgson is less physical than Richards, but he may have more natural finishing skills. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Montreal has taken two Americans... surprise, surprise.
Jyri Niemi got taken by the Islanders in Round 3. That's a great pickup... he's a great puckmoving d-man for the Blades. Goalie Braden Holtby goes to the Capitals early in round 4.
Enigmatic Belarussian Mikhail Stefanovich still has not been selected. And you know he's sitting there with his family...
EDIT: Stefanovich goes to Toronto 98th overall. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

Sweet, Chicago took a Blade... blueliner Teigan Zahn.
Tampa takes Dustin Tokarski, who was the Memorial Cup winning goaltender for Spokane. He's another Sask-goalie, from nearby my old stomping grounds in Humboldt. Actually, Tampa took James Wright, a Saskatoon kid, just before Tokarski. He plays for Vancouver.
And San Jose has gone back to the well... they took Finnish goalie Harri Sateri (great name) in round 4. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. | We traded the rest of our draft for Jamie Arniel, basically... Shows how desperate we are for a genuine faceoff man... how fucking hard can it be to win a draw, seriously... |

Yeesh, Cormier, Deschamps and Sauve get snatched up before the Habs get a chance to grab some Minnesotan. We also took some Russian we'll never see if he's half decent.
I'm not going to pretend I know anything about the draft and Trevor Timmins is one of the best in the biz, but picking up some punk from Arvada, Colorado seems like a waste.
BTW, pick no. 105 is going to be the Vincent Lecavalier of hockey.
Pick 121 is so bad he'll put you to sleep.
Pick 145 is a big Rhianna fan.
Pick 155 is a racist.
Pick 106 is planning a ritual suicide.
Picks 110 and 134 are good players and everyone is going to regret not taking them. _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry

Let's see... Phoenix has taken:
a Tikhonov
a Staal
a Brodeur
and a Hextall
This is the laziest scouting I've ever seen. I think they also took Pittsburgh prospect Michael Stone's brother. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Of course they did, Keith Gretzky is their head of scouting. _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry
