Interesting...I used to fly United in the late '80s all the time
Their prices were better than most airlines with comparable perks
As far as 9/11, those gaffs were committed by the airport security _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

Currently, Frontier is my favorite. Every experience on their flights has been overwhelmingly positive. Hell, even at the automated check-in kiosk they tell you what animal is on your plane! I don't recall and real hassle with United, but I've heard some horror stories from family/friends.
The thing that sucks about it all that Denver's unnecessary International Airport sinks or swims with United. Their bankruptcy filing scared the crap out of more than a few local officials. |

If it scares the crap outta locals there, imagine what it would do it at O'Hare... United is its biggest lessee and I'd be surprised if the gummint doesn't step in to bail it out once again... I think part of their on-time problem stems from having its hub in Chicago... 3 seasons out of the year, we get really unpredictable weather out here - tornadoes, snow/thunderstorms... any delay due to weather impacts every airport that United goes into... Add to that the congestion that inevitably happens given O'Hare's limited capacity for growth. American also recently moved its hub operations over to O'Hare (from St.Louis) which only compounds the problem.
For me over recent years, I've tried to avoid O'Hare unless absolutely necessary... I actually try to fly through Atlanta (Air Tran's hub, along with Southwest and Delta). _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.
