Okay, so the latest rumor is that Sundin really does want to sign with the Rangers, who will then turn around and shop Gomez. Am I the only one who thinks bullshit? The only thing I see is Sundin gives the Rangers some cap room back (but then why did they sign Redden for so much?) next summer or the summer after - while they give up on a 28-year-old center who might be every bit as good as as 38-year-old Sundin?

Bear in mind, this is a rumor that seems to have started with an Eklund post...

Yeah, and in turn probably started by some douche on HF, which Eklund treats as a primary source.

It's the Rangers, so wackiness can't be ruled out, but it still seems unreasonable. It's almost more likely Sundin signs a sweetheart deal with them than this scenario playing out.

Indeed EKlund has been reporting this for awhile with us being the front runners to get Gomez, nothing suggested as to what might be going their way but personally I'd much rather have Gomez so if only one of these rumors could come true....

Well, I dunno... There are other teams that I could see getting in line for Gomez... What could Vancouver offer that Sather would want? Take Colorado, for example. With Sakic thinking about retirement, they also have plenty of cap room; plus they have plenty of young, cheap talent that would be attractive to NY in trade... So MG could find himself in a bidding war for Gomez... and we know how that almost always turns out. Mad And Montreal might also be an attractive option for Sather - plenty of skill to spare...

Until it's done, I ain't believing a word of it.

Wow... Some welcome non-Sundin-related info: Mitchell leading by example... With any luck, Deadwood is the new Sami Salo... And Cody Hodgson is the Canuck Sam Gagner... Also, Yann Sauve also trained with Hodgson under Dave Gagner.

Honestly, I believe that I have a better chance of seeing the hot swim instructor naked than the Nucks do of landing any one of Drury/Gomez/Sundin... Confused

At least he sounds pumped... I like the idea of a player showing up early and in shape to camp, saying things like "I want to make an impact"

Sure beats, "I'll get back to you in August sometime"
