While your point is true about their accuracy, I'd also point out that people still cite Bruce Garrioch and Al Strachan by name and report on what they said. The fact that Strickland's report is described as "unsourced" is funny, since reporters are not supposed to divulge their sources unless the source volunteers to give that information.
A lot of stories have been broken by bloggers and the MSM has taken credit for it. There is a legitimate reason as to why they feel slighted. |
Agreed, while the major news outlets are justifiably pissed off that bloggers like Eklund force them to chase after every unsubstantiated and unresearched rumor that gets posted, attribution is the very FIRST and most important thing you learn in journalism class. It doesn't matter that they've been wrong 99.9% of the time, you give credit where credit is due. Listing them as "unsourced" is quite frankly, childish and irresponsible. |

Now that I think about it, wasn't "Senior Advisor" the same title MLSE was looking to fill last summer when they decided JFJ needed help?
Yeah, I agree that Tallon isn't going to be around for very long. The only question is what role will Scotty get. Will Scotty be the President and Stan the GM?
And of course, what about Savard? You can't shove a guy so identified (in a positive fashion) with the Blackhawks under the rug, can you? _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Now this is just starting to get silly. I think that this is just wishful thinking. Some people seem to be forgetting that Scotty Bowman is 74 years old. Age is going to increasingly take it's toll on him. This will be his swan song. He took the job to work with his son. He will be increasingly, physically unable to give more than he was already giving in the Detroit job and what he will be able to give in the new Black Hawks job. The Red Wings aren't stupid. They didn't give permission for Bowman to take over as coach / GM for their main divisional rival out of pure altruism. They knew his limitations and let him go to perform the same / similar duties that he performed for Detroit with his son. If they thought he'd take on more duties they would probably have simply rejected the Hawks request to speak with Bowman. He was under a Detroit contract and was obligated to the Red Wings organization. Truthfully, The duties and obligations of the position of President / GM much less coach will just not be possible for a man of his advancing age. He'll give good advice, help his son and the Black Hawk organization with light scouting, player advice and coaching advice but no more. He's just getting too old to handle the pressures of the more demanding positions in an NHL organization like Presidentor / General Manager / coach. The Hawks will need to be happy with what they are about to receive. _________________ "The greatest victory a man can win is victory over himself."

President isn't always that involved of a job. The GM & Coach do the grunt work, and I don't think they want Scotty for any of that. That's as far as I see Scotty going. But I could definitely see him being used as at the very least, an advisor for Savard who has had a lot of negative reviews so far as a head coach. I also think this could be a step in moving Tallon out, and Stan would be one of the first guys in line to become GM. I don't know who would be coach if it wasn't Savard, but I know I don't read it as Scotty taking over.
China is run by guys that are at minimum Scotty's age, so he could have quite the career ahead of him if he wants it. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. Yep. Sight the most fascist, least humane, most careless, least environmentally sensitive dispicable buggers on the planet for comparison to Bowman?
