| Crucial month coming up ... 8 straight divisional games .. begins after Nashville. Fortunatley canucks get 3 games in the next 11 days. Lots of practice time and healing time for this crucial stretch. |

| oh! before I forget , Im not starting my bar room bantering and rumours lounge thread yet ..but Tamby was on with Pratt and Taylor yesterday and were discussing the team as per usual. Tamby was at the NYR.TBY game in NY and it wasnt until the end when Taylor finally asked him why he's there? .. Tamby said he's scouting some eastern teams and will be back by the weekend. So make do with that tidbit of info. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Petr Prucha is available from the Rangers. He's not one of Tom Renney's favorites despite the fact he's scored 50+ goals the previous two seasons combined. He's fast but not very big and has only 1 goal for the Rangers this season. NYR are apparently desperate for a puck moving D-man. They were making inquiries about Jovo from Phoenix but I doubt they have room for him under the cap, plus Jovo and his family don't want to leave Phoenix. |

Prucha is versatile and actually would work well with the twins since he scores most of his goals on the power play just standing in front of the net, he can play all three forward positions, and you're right, he's not a favorite since despite his talent and versatility, his game has not progressed, he seems to have trouble scoring at even strength and I don't believe his defensive game is all that well-honed.
Question then is, who would the Canucks give up? Bieksa? |

| I wasnt paying attention until the end but Pierre Maguire this morning also said , SJ , Tor , and I missed the other team(s) he named were shopping and making calls throughout the league. He wouldnt specify what they're looking for or what they're shopping , just said thats what he knows. |

The other teams he mentioned were Atlanta, NY Rangers and the Canucks. Maguire said Tambellini, Deblois and Crawford (Marc's brother) were scouting the Atlanta-Montreal game last night. |

There were a number of scouts at the ATL/MTL game, presumably scouring Atlanta. They may not be out of it yet, though. And realistically, Hossa's their only real asset... I guess Holik as well. I don't know if they'd consider moving a d-man... they're already pretty thin back there and no one is forcing their hand like Hossa & Holik might be. _________________ It's backwards time. |

| Don't forget the Corey Schnieder factor, he's ripe for moving if Nonis thinks he can get some real help and fit it under the cap... |

Nice, Washington-based sportscaster Michael Wilbon dressed up as Trevor Linden for Hallowe'en (the two are pals from Linden's Caps days) on his show "Pardon the Interruption" yesterday. Apparently Linden gave him a Canucks' jersey numbered "07", and he made some proclamation at the end of the show saluting "Canada [ed. note: ], home of the Canucks." Well, it was cool up until that last part, anyway; I guess the Canucks just travel around from place to place like the Harlem Globetrotters.

You know that if I was ever on TV for some reason and had to talk about Vancouver, I'd say something similar just to get a rise out of you. _________________ It's backwards time. |

A couple years ago the Roughriders had an advertising campaign that called them "Canada's Team", which I thought was funny just because the freaking league is called the Canadian Football League. But I'd just laugh at it rather than get all hot in the collar like you tend to get. _________________ It's backwards time. |

Didn't some asshole once refer to "Vancouver, Canada" on the old OTP? I think he was the same jackass who confuses Ottawa & Ottowa. Also some rant about Canadians drinking lake water... Typical ugly American. _________________ In a country so proud of its democracy, whyare we trying so hard to convince our children that they are little monarchs? |

On the few occasions I've had to travel outside of Canada / the Pacific Northwest, I do say "Vancouver, Canada" on purpose. You try telling a bunch of Americans from back east that you're from "Vancouver, British Columbia"...
"You speak spanish???"

Try telling people that there's actually a place in the world called "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan". _________________ It's backwards time. |

| Pierre Macguire thinks Vancouver might do something "big" soon ... and Atl is indeed in the mix , and Hossa is a name to look out for... <according to Macguire , not me. |
