Apparently Frank died today of "natural causes". I've also heard that it was cancer. Frank was an old friend of mine when I used to hang out in Kensington Market. When I left Toronto to move to Vancouver I had heard that Frank wasn't doing well at all and kind of figured that he was about to kick it. Another friend of ours, Kieth Whittaker of The Demics had just died of cancer. It's been kind of sad hearing about my old friends dying one by one. There aren't many of the older crowd left at all. Basically aside from two overdoses everybody's dying from cancer, but what I would really call "a life of excess". Gives one something to think about.
Anyway, RIP Frank.

Wow, you were friends with him? That really sucks, then.
Teenage Head was one of my all time favourite band names. Haven't heard them in a long time. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

oh Robin, I was thinking about you last night when I heard the news.
I'm so sorry. The local Hamilton news said it was throat cancer. I loved Teenage Head -I must have seen them at least 20-30 times as a teenager - they were one of the few - very few - bands who came to Oshawa to play. I had so many great night outs because of Teenage Head.
Big hugs to you Robin. If you end up coming to Toronto, let me know ok? |

Thanks guys. I was 17 when I started hanging out in The Market. My friend Sandy introduced me to the older crowd, like Frankie, "Keef", Clive, B-Bob and Mad Billy Askew. I was 15 years younger than most. For some reason they all took me under their wing and treated me as a peer. Now they're mostly gone and it gave me the "who's next" feeling. Just being a drama queen .
A definite positive that I drew from this whole experience is that I got tutored in bed by several women who were teenagers when I was born.
