Dion is either being coached poorly or he's not listening, you're right he was hardly visible in last night's game. I actually had to make a point of looking for the 3 on his jersey to find him on the TV.
It really concerns me that Dion isn't pushing himself to be a more complete defenseman, he has the tools but he's wasting them trying to make a big play or big hit seemingly every shift. And again, you're right, Aucoin is sucking big-time. Don't know what the hell happened to him after his Ironman Islander days...I suppose the new NHL just isn't suited to his style or his injuries have REALLY slowed him down.
Never imagined Dion and the Flamers would miss Hamrlik this much. Given how well Roman has played for the Habs thus far it was a very costly cap casualty. Still, Calgary is way too stacked with talent on the back end to be playing this piss-poor defensively, especially considering there was no better defensive team in the league about two years ago.
Anyway I'm sure they'll find a way to turn it around. I kinda wish there was a little more physicality in these Avs/Flames contests, both teams have big hitters who play strangely tentative against one another thus far... |
