Laughing

Laughing I normally have problems keeping the puck down as it is Laughing Lots of traffic in front, so I wanted it down to be more tippable, but I put it in a really good spot to go straight in and he made the stop Mad

Nice going Av, congrats!
Man, only 6 skaters, lots of "ice" time....
Any word on your injured teammate?

I got back on the ice tonight after a 2 week layoff
Last week I was stuck in traffic coming back from Maine, and wanted no more of the highway by the time I got home, so I skipped the hockey game.
I figured my team could handle their opponent easily enough.
They tied Surprised

Tonight we got down 2-0 in the first before we got it together
We got one in the final seconds of the first, then 4 unanswered in the 2nd
to break the game open ( including a PP and a shortie)
I made a nice weave across our zone and then sent a zip pass back across the grain to center ice to send our best goal scorer on a breakaway.
He shot over the crossbar, unfortunately, but he still had a few goals tonight I think ( at least one nice one that I recall, where he calmly waited for the goalie to slide over, then flipped it far side)
We added one in the 3rd, for a final of 6-2 over the Rangers (who are a good team)

The upper division ( the commish is back to his habit of calling them Upper C and Lower C, where it used to be B & C Mad )
has 8 teams, compared to the 4 it had last year (which sucked, quite frankly) He's prolly calling it Upper C because he included 4 extra teams, and doesn't consider them to be B teams.
The standings (2 games behind now) had us in 6th, @ 6-4-0, so now we are
7-4-1 ( I believe one of those losses was the forfeit that shouldn't have been a forfeit)

We beat the Talons, who were 1 point behind us in the Thursday/Friday standings, on Friday 3-1. Tim played really well and I thought we played well in front of him. I think the only thing I thought we didn't do that well was hold them at the blue line. We were giving them the zone a little too easily. Also, we weren't putting shots high enough on their goalie, who seems to go down really early and hope that it hits him, but we scored enough.

1 point behind the Avs for first place. Toronto is in second last now for Thursday/Friday Confused

Goodlife, the team that we tied 0-0, won 1-0 in the game before ours. They've shut out us and Toronto consecutively Shocked

I hear their goalie ( Goodlife ) played Junior or tier 2 or something like that .

Is that true?

No idea, but it'd be a while ago. Same name as this guy, which based the year that he played a few games in the O would make sense based on how old he looks.

The goalie for our team before I joined the team was in the Kamloops Blazers system when Hitch was coaching. I don't know if he ever played a game for them. He played out for us the year that I joined the team. One game, we decided to switch and we got ripped on because I think it was a game when we were battling for Toronto for first place, and they said that I was a lot better than he was. He was REALLY old school Laughing

In the first season of our summer league, this guy was actually one of the four goalies in the league. Patty Roy was his backup for Granby before Ron got hurt and it ended his junior career. He was also old school and was still using the same pads, but was still really good.

We squeeked our last game out 2-1. We had 41 shots and they had 42 shots. A run and gun game. I acually had 3 breakaways in 1 shift. A first for me. We are now 10 and 4 and holding onto 1st place in our Div.

My older bro plays in a high B-level mens league with 3 stop 15's with a flood between the second and third. I've played a few games on D for them when they were short guys and I don't feel like it's that big a difference from 3 stop 12's with no flood, but 3 20's would be friggin nuts.

My league games only run two stop 15's and that does the ice in pretty bad.

I think we run 10-12-12 stop, or something close to that. That's after it gets chewed up by figure skating before our games. Sometimes it's all right, sometimes it's awful with some crazy ruts. The creases are usually puddles.

no ice clean at all. It's pretty much like playin road hockey in the 3rd. A clean every 2 periods is needed for sure. it's not to bad when the lower divs r playin be4 us but when we play a 10pm game with 2 divA games before us the ice is screwed be4 we even get on. something needs to be done for sure.

They don't even clean it between games?!?
That must me a gravel pit!
We play 3 12:00 stop (or 15:00 running if no scorekeeper),cleaned between each game, and the ice is horrible...well, honestly, it's pretty bad even after the Boni gets off Laughing
At faceoffs, I have to be careful where I stand or I'll get stuck Laughing

Yesterday our goalie banged in, so I called up the Bro as a last resort
He said he knew I was going to call him for a goalie, cuz he's psycic Laughing
On the ride there, he starts in with his whiny bitch crap, he doesn't feel like playing, his shoulder's sore, he's tired, he hasn't played in 6 months Surprised

All things that would have been useful to know at 1:00pm when I called him rather than 8:00pm on the ride in Mad
Of course we only had 6 skaters (again) so me and Steve played the whole game.

First shot of the game is a soft backhand from outside the faceoff circle, after a blocked shot...it goes into an entirely vacated net Shocked
I'm still not sure where he was; he said he went into his butterfly when he was screened, but he wasn't even near the front of the net

Second shot was a wrister from about the same area ... I think he reacted as the puck was on it's way back out of the net Laughing
At that point, we started basically playing like we had an empty net
We got 1 before the period ended, then took the lead in the 2nd.

Late in the 2nd, there was a mad scramble in our crease, where my bro looked like he was having an epileptic seizure, the puck hitting him and bouncing out for more bids....it broke through finally and was gliding along the goal line. I leaned into the pileup of bodies and reached into the net, scooping the puck off the line and under my flopping brother.
At that point I got hit from behind, pushed into the net taking it off the pegs. The puck somehow again eluded my bro, and was shot into the loose net. The goal was waved off, but the idiot ref gave me a delay of game penalty...somehow he missed the dude pile driving me into the net Rolling Eyes
My team killed the penalty, and we went into the 3rd up 3-2.
They promptly tied it up, then came the killer....
One of their D took a slap-shot-clear from his own face-off circle
I'm thinking "wtf was the point of that?", and turned to see my brother's back
there he is trying to finagle the net back onto its pegs
I yelled as loud as I could, but the puck puck went right in between his heels
Somehow, we tied it up again ... but the scoreboard showed 5-3
I thought we were getting rooked, but actually the scorekeeper somehow gave us 2 and took one from them ... must be new math
There was a conference, and we agreed the score was actually 4-4
Then we scored with 6 seconds left in the game!
