must be nice playing on a pro rink, though from a goaltending perspective I suppose it's not much different. I played in Hennicker NH at a college rink.
I thought the ice was great, though a lot of people didn't agree

Yeah it was certainly fun to lay down the law, and it was a couple more than a few Laughing
probably about 6 or 7 of varying degree (two were penalty worthy, especially the one where I pushed the guy almost over the boards)
The one the Snappers screamed about was really the other guy's fault
He was driving full speed to the net, and I was in his way, and I just squared up and knocked him flat on his back. I figured I'm not stepping aside and letting him run my goalie, and I'm certainly not just gonna stand there in his way and get driven into my goalie.

It`s always nice to have your D looking out for ya.

I`m playing out, and the last time I played at the Ricoh it was playing out as well. Not sure how the ice at the Ricoh is normally. The ice in Milton is probably better than the ACC though, and it`s ok, sometimes really bad. Laughing The creases are usually the worst part.

Curious, you'd think the ice on an AHL rink would be better than ok
Though if they let beer leagues rent it, maybe not Laughing
Of course, we may have different perspectives on what is good and what is terrible
A lot of the rinks in Massachusetts, not only does the ice vary between acceptable to gravel, the puck sometimes goes under the boards
On warm nights in Acton where my league is, the water doesn't freeze after the 'boni run until midway through the 2nd period sometimes (if at all)
and then there's the fog......

Oh I LOVE playing in fog...makes for a pretty damned unpredictable game. My old freezer of a rink used to fog up sometimes, the ice was great more often than not because the place was so damned cold. Great if you're a player, not if you're a coach, finally noticed it when I went behind the bench.

Anyway because of inclement weather and the holidays I haven't played in about a month or so...hopefully tomorrow we can start up again!

So, did you get to play yet?

We had 6 skaters again last night, so I played the whole game (again)

We fell behind 1-0, 2-1, then up to 5-2 before we poured it on and tied it at 5
that was in the 3rd period...we usually had 4 attackers, so I was on my own quite a bit...the guys were coming back to backcheck, I just had to be careful not to get caught in transition - which I did a few times
Mostly on pucks turned over in the offensive zone with all 4 going forward
Late in the 3rd that happened, the puck was trickling to the center of the blueline and they had 3 or 4 coming out of their zone
So I pretty much had to risk going for the keep-in, cuz if I just started to back up at that point, they would have just raced by me
Their guy got to it right before me, and flipped it past me into neutral ice, sending them on a 3 on none basically
Our goalie made a great save and we were back to clear away the rebound

We had one flurry in their end where I thought their goalie had a piece of clear plexiglass across the top of his net...we had like 6 shots that looked to be going into the empty corners, only to somehow stay out

Someone on our team called timeout with 2:00 left because he was about to keel over. On cue, they scored about 40 seconds later
I gave our goalie the greenlight to go to the bench as soon as we got possession, but they ended up getting an empty netter, and we lost 7-5.

Bosc or I didn't post from our Thursday night game. After a brutal performance before the Christmas break we came out with a solid effort and won 7-3 against a team that in the past was not good but is a lot better this year.

Bosc had his usual good game on defence and yours truly picked up an assist.

Thanks dude, you played well too.

We're pounding the black team, but they must have been missing a couple of guys. It seems like they play the Avalanche far better than they play us. Now if only we could have a decent fucking game against Toronto or the Avalanche. Evil or Very Mad

We played the worst team in the league last night and we won 10-4, funny thing is we didn't play all that great and could have scored 10 more ( not that you want to run up the score in beer league, but more of an indication on how we played).

Their goalie is terrible, and quite frankly we were very over confident. We kept trying to make the perfect pass and at times would have 2 or 3 people in the same corner trying to get the puck.It was actually 6-4 with about 9 minutes left in the 3rd. We then proceeded to get 3 goals on 1 shift.

We played a crappy team tonight, and lost 7-2

Strangely enough, I felt it was one of my better games this season
I talked to the other D before we left the ice, and he agreed with me that he thought we both played well ( we had 8 skaters and opted to go with 2 forward lines and just use 2 defensemen, letting our center/d sub on D when necessary) I played the whole game, the other D rested once in the 3rd.
Naturally, it was brought up in the locker room that we shouldn't do that anymore, and it's hard to argue with 7 goals against.
However, the real killer was our constant passing the puck to the other team
It was mostly our wingers doing this; I was guilty once of clearing it around the boards right to their pointman (only once is good for me Laughing ).
My D partner turned it over a few times trying to make a move, and had a few passes picked off, but otherwise played phenomenal.
Our (normally) 2nd line center tried to make WAY too many individual moves in our zone, turning it over a bunch of times.
The constant turnovers left us (on D) in limbo so many times, we couldn't pick up the free guy because we were suddenly trying to backpeddle against an onslaught of forecheckers.
It also seemed like they had uncovered people coming in late all the time
There's only so much the D can do .........

I played a very physical game, in front of our net, in the corners, and keeping the puck in at the opposing blue line. I think I got the same guy like 5 times with "checks" (where I made incidental -but hard- contact while pinching at the line and knocked him down) He was laughing about it after the game, so he wasn't pissed

I did have a Bergeron-Jones moment however, that made me cringe
someone was trying a wraparound, and I stood him up.
He fell awkwardly towards the boards, headfirst naturally
I waited to make sure he got up, said "sorry dude" , and he said "no problem"

Our 8 guys vs. Their 9 Mad

Every single fucking goal was some form of a 3-on-1 and maybe a 2 in there, with me being the last guy back with Tim Mad

Yeah, there was some stuff. It wasn't too chippy for me, the forwards might have a better idea. Lots of penalties, mostly for them.
