Yes the full size outdoor rink was where I played co-ed. No C/A? do you use an orange hockey ball? I'd play 1950's style on my feet hands in front of torso protection first save second style. Very Happy

Yeah, it's backcatcher-style chest protector. Yes to orange ball. We also have to use the DOM sticks, but you can still fire those orange balls pretty hard with a fibreglass stick and plastic blade Laughing

When I played intramural ball hockey at guelph, our goalie hated wearing a chest protector Laughing Even though it was the plastic sticks, our team could shoot, so he'd usually get most of his welts from warmups Laughing

We won 5-2 last night and after a rough start, we're 3-2-1 now.

We won our ball hockey championship Tuesday. Our team(excluding myself and my buddy from work - we just joined this spring) had a running history with this team. We jumped out to an early lead, they tried to come back and we held off to beat em 15-14.

Wow that's some balls, not often you see going for the extra point and not kicking come through like that. Razz

Started off the game last week with a bang going down 3-0 in the first 5 minutes, with one guy scoring all three. I wasn't on the ice for any of them. We ended up coming back and winning 4-3.

I think we're 6-5-1 now. Our last 3 losses have been with me in net, 2 of which were to the first place team Confused My bro comes back from his honeymoon so I don't think he'll miss any more games and I can move back to D Mad We're a better team with him and net and not moving me from D to G.

You're liking D better than net these days Bosc?

I finally got to play last Saturday night, even if it was just pickup
3 goals and 3 assists in 90 minutes
Even for pickup, that's normally a season for me Laughing
The first, I was playing center and one-timed a centering feed (gift)
The 2nd was my fave, actually Bosc-esque Laughing
I was playing D, took a feed to the point, faked the slapper and walked around the vinger, up to the circle and snapped it shortside top-corner. Cool
One of the assists was a shot as well ... goalie left me nothing, and the passing lane was clogged so I shot right at the goalie's stick and he left the rebound right in front for the guy I couldn't pass to Laughing
The last goal, I could hear the Zamboni warming up as I went end to end
the goalie stopped my shot, but I scooped in my own rebound
.....then everyone started heading off the ice.....
I'm like, hey man that still counts!

Haven't scored in a while Mad I've had a couple of decent chances this year, but I haven't been trying to score much. I had a really good chance last week after making a couple of moves to get open in the slot, but it kind of rolled on me and I fired high. My D partner is normally a center and probably the best player on our team(one guy's a better scorer but this guy is much better all-around), so I just let him go to work Laughing There's probably been 4 or 5 times this year where he takes off, I go for a change and it's in the net when I'm stepping onto the bench Laughing

It's not that I'm enjoying D more, just that we're a better team with my bro in net and me on D than missing my bro with me in net Laughing

Hey you went 2-0 in relief of Tim last year, you're a very good goalie, but I think I know what you are eluding to.

Yup, I got that....
when Bosc has to play net, you lose a good defenseman

No, my older brother is just way better than me in net Laughing

My bro says he likes having me playing D in front of him, so I guess that's good enough for me Smile

Tied 3-3 last night, giving up a goal at the 8.3 second mark to tie the game when a puck rolled on our guy trying to clear it and he put it in our net.

One of the goalies in our league, Dave(Cujo), that Scott knows all about, has decided to make things fair and bring out Geoff Platt for the past couple of games in our league, which typically the best guys played AA hockey or around there. Confused He's playing D and clearly not trying anywhere close to what he could. I'm all for guys that want to go out for a skate, but I'd be a little bit concerned about meatheads in mens league who might do something stupid to the guy, and he doesn't have a deal with Anaheim right now so that's a risk. It's cool that he wants to skate, but his skill level is certainly about 100 times higher than our league Confused

Funny you mention it, because Rob, the guy at work here plays on Tim's team and told me about this this morning and he said the same thing about Cujo and the spirit of the league.

Professionals really shouldn't be allowed to play in amateur leagues
But I played in a league in Tyngsboro and one team was stacked
In fact, they had a guy had played in Europe and in the North Stars farm system

Somewhat related, a while back (not sure what year) Kyle McLaren played in our softball league...it was the summer he was in contract dispute.
He could really crush the ball
I did get the satisfaction of throwing him out at second when he tried to stretch a single (that I bobbled because of the spin) into a double

That's a tough call though. My bro plays in a league that has had some guys who used to play minor pro and a couple of guys who played a few games in the NHL, but the league is a pretty high level senior league. I guess it depends on the level of skill of the league and the divide. Here, some of the best players in the league were guys who played AA as kids. No junior A or B or C. A few years ago we had a goalie who played in the Q, but over 20 years ago Laughing

The best guy that we've had in the league was a guy who played D for U of Ottawa, and made it to like the final 18 on the first season of Making the Cut. He was unreal, but he was the most unselfish guy in the league. And even then, the talent difference was crazy, especially after he came back from filming the show for the playoffs. So a 23-year old AHL/NHLer is crazy. Shoulda heard the sound when my younger bro made a blocker stop on a long slapper Shocked Shocked

We play the team on Wednesday. Standings are already set so I'm hoping that he brings him out. Very Happy

League sign up tomorrow night and today got notice that my Tuesday pickup group starts on Sept 9. What a great time of year early Sept is!

Oh yeah, he didn't bring him out that game Sad

We lost our first playoff game and tied the second. We have to win tonight and then win a deciding shootout to go to the Finals.

No Mad

I don't think I've ever seen that many odd-man rushes in a single game Confused Seemed like every time they got the puck they ended up on an odd-man rush entering our zone. We didn't business being in the game, but Mike played extremely well, we were down 5-2 with 6 minutes left and roofed 3 goals in the span of 1:30. However, we couldn't get the winning goal and gave up an empty netter when we were tied. We had to win in regulation but didn't...
