We tied 3-3 against Black. It was actually a pretty good game. They are once again a totally new team and they had 1 or 2 guys that played in Europe. We scored on the first shift of the game, then in the 2nd period they got 2 quickies. Wwe tied it midway in the 3rd and then with about 1:45 left in the game, they scored on a laser top shelf. We got our first and only power play of the game with about a minute left and pulled the goalie and scored with about 45 seconds remaining.
The top line of Rutz, Bruce and Whiting were on for all 3 goals, and this game counts as apparently we will have a longer playoff format this year and hence are using the 2 exibition games as regular season.
I think Tim told me the game before, Toronto, or now WHITE as they call themselves beat the Avs 3-2.
I had a bit of a tough time as:
A: I'm totally out of shape and even worse,
B: I had new skates, and they were also a bit to sharp.
I felt like a robot out there with the skates and had some trouble gliding and stopping, as the skates were really sharp, and really stiff.
Oh yah and I got a huge blister on my right foot. _________________

Thanks for the recap! Were they on for all 3 of our goals or all 3 of Black's goals?
Ahh, that sucks about the skates. I'm in need of a new pair, but I really don't want to get more because the ones that I have are like the most perfect fitting pair of shoes/boots/player skates/goalie skates/rollerblades that I've ever owned _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

They were on for the 3 we scored. I too loved my skates, but it was time to get new ones.
As all new skates, they will eventualy break in. _________________

Speaking of skates, mine seem to suddenly in the last couple months want to start rusting. I dry them after every use and leave them without a cover on, yet they still get a film or rust in a day or two. Can blades lose their temperament or something over time? _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

I get that with my goalie skates as well. You using CCMs?
I hadn't used mine for about 2 months before a couple of weeks ago...and I must not have taken them out or something, but the rust on the bottom of the blade was unreal...I tried to scrape most of it off but couldn't really, so I really couldn't skate for the first half of the game. I made some nice diving stops that game _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Using Bauer. they have just over five years of use, but sharpen them more often than most goalies so wonder if that has something to do with it. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

Don't know...my goalie skates have always rusted far easier than my player skates. Can you get a bad batch of steel blades? They pretty much all come from the same manufacturer, don't they? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Four games into the season and the new Beer league team this season looks like a good one. We are out of the gate with four wins and in my two games we won 4-3 with a short bench and 3-0. The team plays solid D and understands how to give me the shot and cut down the options around me...I like that as it keeps me in the game with shots, yet allows me to play well. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

We beat Toronto(White now) last night 6-4. Pretty good game all around. Scott, where were ya? Rob mentioned your wife had night school?
I was getting out of my car and Darren drives by me in the parking lot, literally seconds after the buzzer went in the Detroit-Leafs game and says ha ha!
In the dressing room he said that the Leafs are in first, but he forgot about the games in Europe and I pointed out that they aren't even in first in their division _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Hounsy, you are correct, the manufacturers are indeed using cheaper steel
If you are skating often and getting them sharpened, it shouldn't be a problem
However, it sounds like it IS a problem, so I would suggest using oil on the edges between skates. Not motor oil obviously, not sure what type it is, but my sharpener uses oil to coat my blades after he finishes each sharpening.
They sell the oil there, but I never bought any because, well I never thought I
needed it for one, and usually if I take my skate guards off my blades don't rust. Since a lot of goalies get their skates sharpened less often than other skaters, maybe oil is the way to go... _________________ I'm a Bruins fan - don't try to confuse me with the facts |

Yeah, my wife had night school. We will work this out going forward.I am in Calgary all this week, and will miss this week's game against the Avs. I will be back after that and should not miss many more games.
Sounds like a great game against Toronto! _________________

Was back at the Doctor today and he says contrary to last month Ultra sound result I do indeed have a Hernia and back for another Ultra sound I go. So sometime coming up I will miss likely 2-3 months or Hockey. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

Sorry to hear that dude, that really sucks if you have to miss it
You said before that the league doesn't charge goalies, right? On the bright side you aren't losing money there, I guess. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

No it will work out to be about $100 worth of games I miss...but just not playing means much more than the money. What's sad is right now I'm playing the best hockey I've ever played as the last year of weight loss and strength gains has really translated into my game.
Going to have to work hard and not take the Wellwood approach to healing up. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

That's really too bad man...sorry to hear it I can't imagine 2-3 months, 1 when I was out with my eye was bad enough.
We tied on Thursday 2-2. We gave up the second goal with 7 seconds left Scott, Rob tipped in my point shot for our second goal. Though he probably told you at work how we did anyway We didn't get enough chances and it didn't help us that Rutz's skate blade busted in half during the second period. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!
