To update my season.

League cracked down and made us old guys move up and play in our actual division so the level of play has dropped and on top of that my team is really good which for me in Rec hockey is not ideal. In the two games I've played I am a wind and a tie and the only reason the one game was a tie was because the other goalie kicked my ass all over the place and we should of blown them out. My win was a shutout with limited work, not an absolute cakewalk but close. So I am not very excited by the season and therefore updates will likely be few.

That's what I thought, but when you go on our site, they are showing last weeks game as counting but not the first game. Am I reading that wrong?

In what should be the first regular season game of the year, we picked up a 5-0 win over the team that has finished 3rd and that we've put out in the first round of the playoffs the past 2 years. They picked up three young guys I know and have played some ice and ball hockey with. That team, if they get their guys out consistently, will be much improved over last year. The last place team has also vastly improved as they tied the team that always wins the Thursday night league, so the league will be very competitive this year. It's already gotten somewhat chippy and most teams don't like each other very much. Everyone hates Toronto, the top team that I mentioned.

I don't know if we outshot the other team or not, but we buried our chances and my bro played very well. He wasn't giving up much in the way of rebounds and the ones that he did we managed to at least get out from in front of the net. He made some excellent breakaway stops. He also wasn't getting screened a lot. We only did the running around our zone routine a couple of times and managedto get out of trouble.

Scott managed to set up the first goal with a nifty behind the back no look pass, the guy he passed it to made a pass and then the third guy on the line put in a wrist shot. Some excellent passing Very Happy

We had 3 goals that were absolute perfect tape to tape passes by our big dude. He just patiently held the pcuk, his two linemates drove to the net with the sticks on the ice and he put them right the hell on their blade. Couldn't have made more accurate passes. I only saw the first two like that, but apparently the third one was like that as well(I was changing). The other goal was a slap shot from the top of the circles glove side that their goalie never saw.

Our passing game was much better in this game than in the first two. I don't think the games against this team will all be 5 goal wins, but if we play like we can, we can beat everyone.

My Patellar Tendonitis is back with a vengeance. Have ordered a knee sleeve that is suppose to help and I have my hopes up it does. Man it sucks getting old, but hopefully neoprene and elastics can fix me up.

Good reply Bosc. The difference in this game from our 1st 2 games was the passing. Our 1st 2 games the passing always seemed to be off.
It is very competitive this year, but if we play the way we did in this game, we should have a very good season.

Jeff had a very solid game and did a few goalie techniques to keep the puck in the blue line on a few occations. Very Happy

That sucks, Housny Mad Hopefully it'll help out. How often are you playing?

Thanks, US. There was a couple of wierd moments trying to get a handle on the puck, though, including one where I just tried to put it out but there was a guy standing right in the only lane that I had.

You made a couple of sweet no-look passes! You getting your legs and wind back? It helps that we aren't going out and icing 3 guys a night. Or would that help throwing you right into the fire? Laughing

I am starting to get my wind bsack and I have been sooo thankful that we have had 3 lines in our 1st 3 games. Last game I tried to take it up a notch and see how the wind was, and I was ok until midway in the 3rd when I started to lose my wind and on my last 2 shifts, running around like a chicken with its head cut off Laughing

We lost last night 6-3 I believe. Our goalie was a no show.
I went out to my car to call him, and there was a message from him on my cell...over 3 hours old Mad
fucking Verizon ... I had my phone with me all day
Not the first time that's happened, having a call go right to my voice mail without my phone ringing... you would think it would beep "message" or something.

Anyways, talked one of the goalies coming off the ice to play another game.
He skated for us once before, so I had a feeling he might.
Last night getting anyone to play @ 8:00pm was near impossible Laughing

The score is not indicative of how he played
We turned the puck over way too many times, often at their blueline for breakaways, of which he stopped most of them.
There were a few long distance screened shots into the top corner, and at least one rocket off the post & in ( no chance )

We had 8 guys, but for some reason I thought we only had 7 (senility)
so I tried to keep myself and the other D on the ice as long as possible
to give the forwards more rest. Of course it wasn't necessary, because we had 8, not 7. Our center turned defenseman looked at like I had two heads when I kept sending him up to forward Laughing

Yup Hounsy, it sucks getting old ... so old I can't count to 8 Laughing

Oh, I've played with those dudes before Laughing
Dude hits TWO in the water off the tee on a par three, then hits left of the green from the layup spot, chips on and says he's laying 4 Shocked
and this is a club Member
water was a 2 stroke penalty by my recollection, so i think he's lying 8
I didn't say anything other than "Is that right?"

Nice Laughing

We destroyed the team from the Friday league that we played on Thursday night. If I remember correctly, that team wasn't very strong last year either. I think it was 10-1. We were also missing our big dude.

We were up 3-1 and someone on there team absolutely roofed a shot top-glove on my younger bro. All mesh and it popped out really fast, so the refs didn't call it a goal. I have no idea how they didn't call it because there was no post hit noise at all. You could see the mesh move. We proceeded to score on the same play - you knew it was going to happen. So instead of being 3-2, it was 4-2. It probably wouldn't have mattered in the long run, but I guess you could say it was the tsn turning point.

Scotty picked himself up a Holmstrom doorstop tip. A guy on our team who isn't the swiftest of foot but has very nice hands and great puck control made a couple of really nice moves and gave a perfect goal-mouth feed to Scott, who got it up over the goalie.

I'll say, it was Christmas in October, goal mouth feed, no one around me and the goalie went down right away. Laughing

Should be a good game this week with the Rangers, who are also 2-1 and beat Toronto 3-2 in the last minute of play last week.

We're ahead of Toronto right now in the standings. Very Happy

Couple of skates with the knee sleeve and it is fantastic. feel like a new goalie again, funny how not feeling 100% can kill any aggression in your game and bring you down mentally as much as physically.

Well, we played our 1st of 4 Friday night games of the year ( we play in the Thursday night league but cross over sometimes with the Friday night ).

This was a special game for me in the sense, that a guy I work with plays for the other team and he was talking everyone up at the office about the game. We also had a little side bet that the loser bought the beer after the game.

Jeff started in goal for us as his brother had a party to go to, and we started a little slow as they scored on us in the 1st 4 minutes of the game, then off a juicy rebound yours truly evened the score at 1. We then took over from there. Wehad scored 7 unanswered goals and were up 7-1 with about 8 minutes remaining in the game. That's when we failed to finish the game. They got 3 quick ones on us and had a PP and goalie pulled at the end and if it were not for Bosc, they may have actually made a comeback.

Bosc played an awesome game, especially when it was 2-1, and 3-1 with about 4 or 5 incredible saves on different occations that could have totally turned the game around.

I wanted to buy Jeff a drink after the game but he was nowhere to be found Wink

Anyway, we are now 3-1 and are in a 3 way tie for first. Aanyway back to our Thursday night this week and we will be playing Black.

Great to hear that the knee sleeve helps, Hounsy! Hopefully your knee can heal though and not become completely dependant on it...

Thanks, Scott Very Happy My girlfriend and I were going to head to Neds after too, but she was pretty sick so I didn't want to drag her out to the bar while she was feeling like crap.

Did you rub it in to your buddy at work? Very Happy

Man I was fighting the puck early in the game. Everything seemed to be bouncing off of me and too far out. Normally I pull in pucks like crazy with my stick, but that night they'd land too far out, I'd have to poke check them out and all kinds of confusion resulted. I felt way better when they started settling down for me. That first goal I let in was like the third shot, but all of the subsequent shots after the first was because of weird rebounds.

The last 2 goals I would have like to have had because they were between my blocker arm and chest, and I hadn't let in any of those for a while. Good thing we had a 7-4 lead after them Laughing

The scoring stats for our team haven't been updated at all. I think Rutz has the gamesheets to do it. Have you got a goal in every game so far?
