Assload of shots, but as Babcock said, not enough traffic getting to the net. Had a couple of 5on3's, including one in the first period that we didn't capitalize on with a 1-0 lead. That's the kind of chances that you have to bury.

Gave up the lead in the 3rd period to have Nashville tie the game. Post-lockout, we've generally killed teams in the third period. We're giving up leads to the teams in our division in the third period and that isn't good.

Lilja really needs to stop thinking he's Bobby Orr with the puck. If you're the last guy back, stop trying to make fancy plays. OFF THE BOARDS AND OUT. He had a sweet whiff on a one-timer too. Play within yourself, and you'll be more successful. Let Lebda skate the puck.

Rafalski was holding onto the puck longer than I'm comfortable with. It seemed to me like he was waiting until the last second to make plays that he could have made when he had more room. I didn't notice him doing this from what I saw earlier in the year.

Ozzy made some fantastic saves again.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk schooled Mason in the shootout. Datsyuk is just plain ridiculous with the puck.

I was at last night's game. I don't really have an RW report as it was a last minute decision to go and my main partner in crime is heading to Phoenix this morning so we were, by our usual standards, pretty tame. We stopped in and saw Richard and Jules at Cobo Joe's and heard about Jule's trip to recent Halloween trip to Lost Wages. That young lady would be fun to run with.

Game Observations

The Red Wings pretty much dominated both ends of the ice in the 1st and 2nd periods. Nashville pressed in the 3rd and it paid off. I really like the Predators', J. P. Dumont. We moved down into the lower bowl in the 2nd period from our usual seats as the game was only about 2/3 sold out. We found two aisle seats on Detroit's blue line about 15 rows up. It was a very nice view of the ice and the action.

Lilja has been on my shit list all season long. He's sloppy with the puck. I have to respectfully disagree about Rafalski. He is playing very well. His outlet pass is a thing of beauty. He is a poor man's Lidstrom. I trust his on ice judgement. Lidstrom and Chelios are just great players playing great. Lebda and Meech are very solid. Meech really impresses me. He played a very good game and made no dumb moves or passes.

Ozzie is as hot as a frying pan. Play him till he runs out of steam. That last save in shootout was a thing of beauty. He was solid and spectacular all night. Nashville had to work like dogs to get any goals. Mason also worked his ass off and was very good. Too bad he had to lose the game.

Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Holmstrom continue to amaze. Zetterberg just passed Norm Ullman's record of consecutive games with points to start the season with 15. Hudler and Cleary played well. Eliis and Downey were in and the stands were waiting for a Downey v. Tootoo dust up but Tootoo got injured in the 2nd and I didn't see him again all night.

All in all it was an enjoyable game. Like I said in an earlier post, the Central Division looks really tough this year. That will be good for season ticket holders as we'll have more good games to attend unlike previous years when you could count on two hands the number of decent games to go to. This could be the best regular season I have seen in years as far as quality games to attend. With that said. Until the traditional Pre Thanksgiving night game against St. Louis, RW from cold and cloudy Detroit, signing off.

Oh I trust his judgement as well. I trust it more than I ever trusted Schneider's. I just noticed him holding onto the puck a little longer than I was comfortable with. I've been very happy with his play thus far, but in close games like this where Nashville is pressing, I would just like to see him make the safe play quicker, not necessarily forcing it, when he has the opportunity to do so instead of waiting and making a riskier play.
