Hey Bosc on the PC to play Oblivion would I want a game pad? |
I've never used one. I'm sure there are loyalists to both for the game, but I just never tried using my gamepad, key+mouse for me. I saw my buddy play on his 360 with a controller, and it seemed to me like navigating the menus and hotkeys would be easier with the key+mouse.
Do you already have the game? I can give it a try this weekend using the controller if you want, but you'll have to take the review with a few grains of salt. Like anything first-person, I'll take a M+K over a gamepad any day of the week...
What's your system like that you'll be playing it on?

Don't have it yet, but it is in shipping so next week some time. I don't even have a game pad so just going to go keyboard then.
my system is a Intel Dual core, 2mg mem, and 256mg nvidia pci-e video card.

Back when I was playing it a lot, I was using an AMD 4200+ X2 dual core with 1GB and a 256MB card, but it was one of the better 256's at the time when I bought it, 7800GT. What card are you using? What monitor?
Oh yeah did you buy the Game of the Year Edition(game+Shivering Isles+Knights of Nine)?

Those specs look comparable to the 7800GT that I was using before(except for the memory clock- mine was 1.05Ghz and the 8400 400Mhz, not sure what's up with that), except the 8400 has DX10. You might not be able to play the game at the highest graphics settings, but it'll still look good.

I've heard nasty rumours that sony has removed the chip that provides exclusive backward compatiability in its new 40G and 80G models.
So the Hunt is now on for a Sony 60GB PS3....which of course has been discontinued.

The 80GB has it as far as I know, but the 40 doesn't.

I know for a fact it was removed from the UK models and maybe the AUS ones too, not sure about the rest.

Because of this, I actually don't mind seeing the RROD anymore... It warms my heart that it'll cost Bill Gates and co. about $1B to fix this problem over the next three years or so...
