PS3 40GB at Future Shop right now and it comes with a free copy of MLB 08. Good game?
Or do I hold out for the Metal Gear Solid 80GB bundle in June with the new controller? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

If you like baseball, MLB 07 The Show was the best baseball game ever. I've only played a bit of 08, but it's pretty much the same game with some minor tweaking and better graphics. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

I'm a Little League Baseball on an NES emulator kind of baseball game guy
I'm thinking of asking for a different game. I already have NHL08 for PC(though it's supposed to be a way better offering on the PS3). Any recommendations? I can't really ask for Rock Band, and I already have Oblivion on PC... _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Fired up R6V2 last night at 11PM and finally quit at about 5AM this morning... Tons of fun; liking the ACES system - allows you to get the real goods early if you work through them strategically... My buddy and I played coop story and I ended up with 6/3/3 and him with 7/2/2 on the ACES system. XPs are still tough to get, but I think those will come.
The weapons seem easier to handle (the FNC being my current favorite), better balanced, and it's now possible to pick up weapons that you wouldn't otherwise have (Desert Eagle, Raging Bull, AK-74U, FNC) until much later (because you need the ACES points) during the story mode and have them for the duration... Sniper rifles now are useful and practical (lots of long range ops in story mode) and its great to see the enemy AI using shields; they still don't use smoke grenades well, but that's okay. Being able to shoot through soft cover (couches, packing crates, doors) totally rocks... We had it on "Casual" and man, those AI tangoes are aggressive as hell... Will make this very replayable and challenging at "Normal" and "Realistic". "Sprint" is great, and very similar to the sprint in Gears.
I also love the fact that you're no longer limited to just 3 frags and 3 smoke 'nades - this part of it is closer to COD4; what drove us nuts is the AI teammates in story mode; they seem even more twitchy and stupid now than in the previous version. The 'heal' system is lifted directly from the GRAW series. Can't wait to play again tonight.
If anyone else is interested, I'd like to play some T-hunt tonight; I'll prolly be online with two others, and I'd like to get a larger group together - apparently you can play up to 8 players in coop T-hunt... That would be amazing to play. PM me and I'll give you the details; better yet add tCL 020564 to your friends list and send me a message.
I see Gamespot gave it 8.5/10, and normally I'd object but then I wouldn't disagree completely since the AI in coop story can still be twitchy. It's still hella fun to play and an improvement over the original R6V. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Too arcady. I like realism. With a little artificial tweaking I can play a realistic franchise with realistic stats on MLB 2k8. Plus it has all the minor league teams for you to play if you want... |

You're going to have to explain to me how The Show is too arcady, because I don't see it. _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

Sorry, I meant in my sports video games
I just don't need things exploding all over hte place to make it a good game. I considered both in '07, went with MLB2k7, and it was good. I've basically got the tweaking fixed - just lost 6-4 to Philly with Washington, lines were:
4-6-1
6-12-0
I can live with that... |

That's what I've heard. And the commercials for Gears of War on 360 almost made me buy that game when it came out on the PC. It wasn't at the store downstairs so I held out. Now I can get it at half the price.
Anyone tried GOW on Windows XP? Is the Windows Live shit required to install the game period? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

GOW is XP compatible, but you need Live to get the downloadable content. Still worth it, I think.
(if you find yourself in Montreal in the next two days I'm trying to give away my copy. ID key still works). _________________ It seems like you need to be a physics professor to choose the right TV. Luckily, I am one.

Why the 2-day deadline?
Any experience installing it with a borrowed copy of XP? Or with Live on a borrowed copy _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

To the surprise of no one who follows this thread, the videogame industry continues to buck the trend and grow at double-digit rates even while everything else in the economy isn't... _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Did anyone play any of the Fallout games? Fallout 3 is supposed to come out in the fall. Same company(Bethesda) that does the Elder Scrolls series.
Hounsy, I know you bought Oblivion, have you played it much? Are you enjoying it? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!
