Gentiles are so cute this time of year, collectively held hostage by their children. |
My guess is you have a repressed memory from your youth about getting a dreidel instead of that red fire truck you always wanted. |

My Wii story-
Neighbor is the Eastern Regional Sales Manger for Toys R US and told me the local store was getting 75 for sale on a recent sunday.
He said they opened at 8, so as long as I got there before 9 I should be fine.
Well, I knew he must be a little out of touch, so I got up at 5:30 to head out, I was snowing pretty well so I though that would keep the line down.
I got to the store about 6:20, to see a pretty full parking lot, the last ticket was given out at 5:30. Some College kids were in line at midnight!
A guy who walked in with me said he was going to Target, I decided to go to Best Buy. (he joined me later, Target had none, Walmart had 6)
Line already had 33 people in it @ 6:45, the store wouldn't open until 10!.
While I was the last in line I felt pretty foolish standing in the snow and wind, but it filled in behind me more and more.
They guy in front of me told me his son worked there, and they got 60 + units in.
Some of the people in line were switching on and off with their sig other in the warm car.
The guys in the front of the line at Toys R US drove by offering their wiis at 475,, then 450 and 425 before they said "Off to e-bay"
(The night before was the Golf club Christmas party, 4 hours of open bar didn't make the time pass any faster!)
About 9:00 they came out and passed out the tickets ( Tripled signed by the mangers in different colors) Each paper had a number on it that corresponded to a Wii with the same number. The tickets were good until noon.
I took off for Target to see if they had cheaper accessories. Back to Best buy about 9:50, and there was a huge line again, I saw a few people I recognized ( You tend to bond after 2 hours of alternating feet in the same spot) I asked- "Do all these people know if they don't have a ticket they are SOL?"
I think many of them were in denial. I could hear people complaining that they lined up at 9:40 and they should get one of the 18 min per store in the add.
I think the Boys will be getting the Wii from Dad so he can get some of the credit- Santa can bring the games. |
