Dominik Hasek is a notoriously slow starter but this season is puzzleing even him. He currently has a pedestrian 5 - 3 - 1 record but a fairly alarming .869 save percentage and 2.76 goals-against average. All the same he'll get the start Saturday night in Detroit against Chicago, a Red Wings nemesis this year so far. In other breaking news Chris Osgood is out with the flu. Jimmy Howard will be recalled from Grand Rapids to replace him.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record but frankly the Wings just don't look as solid defensively as they have been in the past. Not sure why, though I'm not giving a complete pass to the Dominatrix, he HAS looked rather ordinary. The goal he gave up to Mayers the other night was simply bad any way you cut it.

Quite frankly though it's more of a surprise to see him doing well, a goalie who relies so much on his reflexes and flexibility to get the job done probably shouldn't be playing well into his 40s...

How has Howard looked in Grand Rapids?

Right now he doesn't look so hot but I don't realy know the quality of the team in front of him in Grand Rapids.
