3-0 Final.

We got tix in the nosebleeds - my nephew works for CNN and had gift certificates amounting to $500 or so, but we couldn't get 7 tickets together anywhere but up in the nosebleeds. Nevertheless, we were treated to some solid defensive hockey by the Devils (it's much easier to see the trap work when you're up that high... Mad ). The Thrashers never really could get untracked; weak first goal given up by ex-Nuck Johan Hedberg, and no chance whatsover on that 5 on 3 opportunity... Kovalchuk and Hossa were practically invisible (especially from 1000' above the ice surface... Confused ) but much of that credit probably belongs to the NJD. Was impressed by Tobias Enstrom, a Swedish rookie d who looked very mature and poised carrying the puck out of his zone and leading their PP.

I was also impressed that this game was a sellout (18,545) - 3rd one of the season. It was incredibly cold that night in Atlanta - must have been about 40 F but felt more like 30 F with the wind. If you are ever in Atlanta for a weeknight game, make sure you have a beer and dinner at McCormick and Schmick's located in CNN Center (between 5:30 and 6:30) - home of the best cheeseburger basket you can get for $1.95! Burgers and beer for two only set me back $20 - including tip!

Thanks for the recap, tCL!

In all seriousness, in all the times I went to Atlanta during hockey season (at least 4 or 5) I never once successfully made it to a Thrashers game -- they were always on the road (or else didn't have their team yet). It would have been interesting, as the farthest south I've ever been for an NHL game is Columbus, I guess.

Last time I was in the CNN center I gathered data for a linguistics experiment from surprisingly willing participants. Laughing

Yeah, it was my second time at the CNN Center and first since they had that shooting at the Omni this past summer. My nephew was telling me that if anyone wants to get an insider scoop on the egos in the news entertainment business, Ron Burgundy is absolutely bang-on. He said that every anchor with any rep at all is basically shallow and self-centered... Also confirmed that Anderson Cooper plays for the other team...
