Nice story but this may be a stretch:
"Regarded by some observers as one of the finest young playmakers in the game."

He might be. He's just really small, doesn't have the greatest wheels, and isn't strong. He's got fantastic vision, but nobody to pass to.

That's your defense of Wellwood? He's small, weak, can't skate and can't show whatever passing skills he may have? Wink

Laughing Last year he was rolling along putting points on the board before he got hurt. This year? Well, 0 assists in 9 games Laughing But if you watch the kid, he makes some marvelous passes that just go to waste on many of the forwards that the Leafs have Laughing

I think he needs Domi's ass to bounce a few pucks off of. Laughing I actually like the kid too and thought he might play well with Blake.

Doesn't help Welly that he's a not-so-good skater on a team full of not-so-good skaters, and that he's a playmaker on a team full of guys who can't finish. And I imagine his lackluster speed is made all the more worse from the fact that he's recovering from a groin injury, is he not?

I'm a fan of the kid, but there really isn't a worse team for him to be on right now...

what's worse is that it doesn't look like it'll change any time soon. Apart from Steen, Wellwood and Tlusty, there's not much ahead of them or behind them in the depth chart.

Don't worry, they've got Tucker & Blake locked up long term!
