not a great source for LEafs news but local Vancouver sports media guy Dave TOmlinson(currently the colour commentator for hte Canucks) says he is hearing its a done deal. JFJ is out and Cliff Fletcher is in.
Though again , this is a Vancouver media leak so take it for what its worth... |

From Brian Burke's take, up on TSN:
"You'd think everyone in Toronto knows more about running the Toronto Maple Leafs than John Ferguson or Richard Peddie."
Um.... yes |

The question I have, was there ever a single day where JFJ was actually running this team and not being completely undermined by Peddie?
Who traded for Raycroft? Who signed McCabe and Tucker? Who brought in Blake?
I know JFJ is responsible for what happened on his watch, but if he was constantly being pressured by Peddie and the board to make certain moves, could we really give an honest assessment of the JFJ years (assuming they end soon)? _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry

Part of the job of a GM is getting what he wants out of his bosses also. If he was being undermined then he was not the right GM. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

I, for one, can't imagine what it must be like to cheer for a team who's GM is constantly undermined and told what hockey decisions to make by ownership... |

True enough, I guess dysfunctional teams are in the majority. I still feel Eric Molson's clammy hand on my shoulder. _________________ John McCain is fit as a fiddle… Is 71 the new 30?” - Fox News' Rich Lowry

Man, I just about spit out my beer last night when watching The Score, and they talked about how the Leafs needed some kind of knight in shining armour type ownership group to buy out the team and re-structure the board... and one of their suggestions was Molson's. _________________ "Oh my God. That would be great...
It reminds me of a campaign slogan:

And, typically, just when the Leafs have lost so much management just has to shake things up, we start on a win streak. _________________ (Working in a Call Centre) + (Being a Leafs Fan) = (One HUGE glutton for punishment)

I think I saw somewhere that he wants to be president and full control to hire/fire his own GM. Can't say that I blame him.
If they do hire him, it's certainly fitting. Another prodigal son returns home for a shot at the cup! _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Not that I disagree, but why would Fletcher give up a year and a half paid with the Coyotes to come here for 4-6 months? _________________
