I'm going to be working like a Japanese beaver Monday/Tuesday. Going on a two-day bender (college days style) Wednesday/Thursday, then Friday morning I hit the road to NYC for a weekend of the crazies.

No sleep in between. Oh, and I have to set aside 10 hours for videogame playing whenever I manage to find my way home.

Actually...YES! We got her back safe and sound yesterday. Neighbor's kid saw one of the flyers and managed to snag her. What a relief. Very Happy

Here's a picture of her and her brother in case anyone's curious. She's the one on the right.

That is very excellent news!!! I don't even know what I would do if something happened to my kitty, so I'm glad to hear about a happy ending...

(though, a little grossed out that you got her declawed)

Not me, the Nebraskan had it done to both before I even met her. If I were to ever get another cat he or she would definitely keep the claws though. The dog would certainly be more respectful of both if they had 'em.

BTW, after seeing Luna at full gallop in the great wide open (we saw her briefly and ran after her the night before our neighbor got her) I don't buy the bullshit that it's painful for them to walk without claws.

After having two roommates in college having scratch happy cats... one ruined my coffee table and the other was pretty much Satan and tried to kill everyone... if I were to have a cat it'd have to be declawed.

Yeah, great news Av.

My roommate's cat liked to use my vinyl for a scratch post. The records were all in milk crates and Boots would go across the top and shread. Put an end to that pretty fast.

I don't think it's painful, but taking anyone's finger off at the first knuckle just to safeguard some furniture seems a little excessive. It's nothing you couldn't accomplish with some patience and a spray bottle of water.

Anyhoo, it is a vet-sanctioned operation, so it can't be all that bad... just something I wouldn't do to my own cat.

I would also think for many a cat the alternative to being de-clawed is being de-alived.

haha, I know a few people who would take the couch over the cat anyday! As a rule, people with pointy pets should never buy leather furniture...you're only setting yourselves up for a rage!

Me neither now that I know better...the furor about it didn't really start until a few years ago as far as I know. Cali and his wife had four declawed cats and got the fifth one (Osiris the Abyssinian, who unfortunately had an untimely demise) with claws after they heard about the drawbacks. Needless to say, that cat ruled the roost. Laughing

And actually I read more and more vets are refusing to do the procedure, and some countries have outright banned it.

This is why I'm a dog person. No muss no fuss. Laughing

I just got a text message from a number I don't recognize, telling me to go to Dilallo Burgers at 1pm. I am hungry, and slightly curious...
