I played 18 innings at catcher in the last two days. My knees and quads are really tight and achy right now.

On the plus side, I've become much better at blocking pitches in the dirt and framing.

I know there's an aversion to talking politics around here but in case anyone didn't notice, we Canadians had an election yesterday. Well, at least 58% of us noticed. Approximately 42% or roughly 10 million elligible voters didn't vote. The Conservatives won with 37.5% popular vote. Had these people who didn't vote gone ahead and voted on mass for one party, that party would have formed the government. Those 42% could have made history by voting in the Greens, NDP or the independents running in each riding. You constantly hear, "My vote doesn't count anyways." Bullshit, too many people shirk their responsibility when it comes to democracy and voting. Shame on them.

You know what was bizarre, MP? There were no independent candidates running in my riding. Just the 4 main parties.

I walked up to vote and there was no one in line. It was 5:30 PM. I had my voter card and my driver's licence. I was out of there in 2 minutes.

Too many elections in recent years. If this parliament can stick for 3-4 years, the next one should be as electrifying as in years' past.

I should stop reading the Sabres LiveJournal community.

Someone just posted bitching about the fact that they played the same Dropkick Murphys song at MSG as is played at HSBC for powerplays.

I managed to get out and make my voice heard on Tuesday!

I'm very fortunate - we have a great NDP Rep in Olivia Chow - Mrs. Jack Layton.

That's the one thing I get frustrated about in Canada - people are either voting based on the party they don't want in power, or they vote for the person who can do/has done the most for their neighbourhood.

Sometimes I wish we had 2 votes. 1 for the person you want to represent your area - and 1 for the party you want to lead.

I thought it just sucked that the Bloc received 10% of the vote and got 50 seats, and the Green Party received 7% of the vote and ended up with 0 seats. That just doesn't seem right.

The other day I lied my face off to talk to a cute girl. I went into The Bay because I had a gift card. I wanted to buy some underwear. The girl behind the counter was super cute. I asked her if they were giving her time off to vote and she said that she wasn't allowed because she was Amercian. I told her that she had two weeks to run to the border. I asked her where she grew up. She said, "Florida." I said, "me too." She said, "where?" I said, "Near Sarasota." This all is a slight bending of the truth. My mom and dad had a home in Florida when I was growing up so I'm familiar with the state, but hell, it got me in with her. I fucking spent over $60 on gitch! I'm going back for more!
