Last year's OC Ken Miller is named the Riders' new head coach...

Also, the Saints' head coach was recently asked about Joseph's scheduled workout in a couple weeks with the team... he responded with: "I don't know anything about it... honestly, who is he?"

I think it has more to do with trying to re-sign Dominguez, but Joseph plays a role for sure. If he makes the NFL (which he won't, let's be realistic here he's not a dominant CFL QB and is pretty old), then he's likely Crandell's backup (ugh, that sounds terrible), and if he doesn't, it's cap space to re-do Kerry's deal.
Losing Perry sucks, but we lost Davis last year and thought it would really hurt, so I don't even know what long term effect this will have on our pass rush. We have a lot of depth on the lines so I assume there are at least some serviceable pieces to replace him.
