Looks like Lapierre and O'Byrne will draw back in tonight vs. Boston, with Smolinski and Brisebois getting the night off. Smoke is a bit of a surprise scratch, but with Latendresse, Grabovski, and Kostopolous all playing their best hockey of the year the past couple games, Smoke is the guy that gets moved with a losing lineup in place.

There was talk of Begin coming back tonight but I guess it looks to be premature. Price gets the start.

A Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Latendresse - Koivu - Ryder
Higgins - Grabovski - S Kostitsyn
Streit - Lapierre - Kostopolous

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - O'Byrne
Bouillon - Gorges

Price
(Halak)

In the pressbox: Smolinski, Dandenault, Begin (unhealthy scratch), Brisebois

In case you're wondering, that's 3434 NHL games (regular season + playoffs) and $5.675m in salary eating hot dogs tonight.

Oh boy... this could be a TGIB game (Thank God It's Boston) tonight...

Komisarek is out for 3 weeks, which could be disastrous when you consider what's less than 3 weeks away.

Latendresse is out for this game with who knows what... supposedly neck spasms. He's played his best hockey recently on a line with Koivu and Ryder.

So where does that leave us? Streit's back to D and Breezer still sits (hooray), while Begin and Smolinski draw back into the lineup.

A Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
S Kostitsyn - Koivu - Ryder
Higgins - Grabovski - Lapierre
Bégin - Smolinski - Kostopolous

Markov - Gorges
Hamrlik - Streit
Bouillon - O'Byrne

Price
(Halak)

Interesting D shuffle to be sure. And Carbo's obviously not ready to put Higgins and Koivu back together yet.

I like. Gorges has been solid and Markov won't have to pick up the slack for him.

Bouillon and O'Byrne sounds like a good pairing. They're going to be hitting everything in sight.

Same lineup tonight vs. the Sens. During the Saturday game, Lapierre and Smolinski switched spots, and I expect that will be the order that starts tonight. Latendresse is still out with neck spasms.

A Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
S Kostitsyn - Koivu - Ryder
Higgins - Grabovski - Smolinski
Begin - Lapierre - Kostopolous

Markov - Gorges
Hamrlik - Streit
Bouillon - O'Byrne

Price

Latendresse will not make this weekend's road trip to Buffalo and Toronto, still out with neck spasms. The team is hopeful for Tuesday's game in Ottawa... which is the last road game of the regular season.

Carbonneau has said that now that the team has clinched a spot, Dandenault is likely to get into a couple of games (OUCH), and Breeze will see some action as well. But he's not too keen on resting the stars, it seems. Expect the lineups to have continuing shuffles of the bottom end players like he has the whole year for the remainder of the regular season, as the team is very much motivated to go for the #1 seed.

Price will start vs. Buffalo.

Two injuries last night: Saku Koivu and Mark Streit... who played the whole game and were on the ice for the OT winner, with Mark Streit getting 3 assists in the final 6 minutes of play. Both were injured on their first shift... Koivu while blocking a shot.

No idea how this shakes up the forward lines exactly (but I'll make a guess), but on D it should be a pretty straight forward substitution with Brisebois taking Streit's spot alongside Hamrlik.

Halak gets the start.

A Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
S Kostitsyn - Grabovski - Ryder
Higgins - Lapierre - Dandenault
Bégin - Smolinski - Kostopolous

Markov - Gorges
Hamrlik - Brisebois
Bouillon - O'Byrne

Halak

Yikes with the injuries...

Mike Komisarek, Guillaume Latendresse, Saku Koivu, Mark Streit, Francis Bouillon... and you'd have to think Maxim Lapierre and Roman Hamrlik are getting looked at as well. Koivu, Streit, Bouillon, Lapierre, and Hamrlik all limped off the ice after blocking shots (on purpose or inadvertantly) this weekend.

Big news coming later today on all these injuries. Komisarek will be skating for the first time today.

Laughing

Well, this news doesn't dispel Tuzer's theory (although it'd be nice to wrap up the division before they "faked" these), but it sounds like Koivu did not have a fracture revealed on initial x-rays and it's just badly swollen and maybe a bone bruise... he's shutting down for this week and probably should be ready to go for the playoffs, but they're doing more tests to be sure. Streit's injury is described as "not as serious" as Koivu's, so he might be back this week. Komisarek says he'll be ready for Game 1, and Latendresse might be back tomorrow vs. Ottawa. Bouillon is still a question mark and no one is really talking about Lapierre and Hamrlik having any lingering effects.

Injury updates:

- Koivu has a fracture in a "small bone" in his foot. He's under constant evaluation, which has got to be kind of awkward. He's definitely out for the 3 games this week. Carbo said that Brisebois played with two broken bones in his foot, so Saku might not be out for a real extended period. He could play hurt, it doesn't sound like a serious break, though he is on crutches.

- Streit and Latendresse should be able to play tomorrow.

- Bouillon's foot is still swollen, so he's doubtful since I doubt he can put his skate on.

- Sergei Kostitsyn might get an audition as the teams 2nd centre... Carbo didn't like Grabo's job vs. Toronto.

Decent lines, I'm just hoping for no more injuries. It's really put a damper on what should be a great time for Habs fans.

Unless Koivu and Komisarek require amputations, they'll be in the lineup for game one. Hopefully Grabo and Sergei can at least pick up the slack in case for whatever reason Saku can't go. Now's the time for both of them to step up, clinch the conference and head into the playoffs with a full head of steam.

Just realized I had Bouillon dressed and no O'Byrne... apparently Dandenault took some shifts on D during practice but I'd guess he's out for this game.

Streit-Breezy is a soft as butter D pairing.

Brisbois being dressed in your post wasn't an early April Fools joke?

Montreal called up Matt D'Agostini and grinder Gregory Stewart today... Grabovski and Kovalev stayed home with the flu, and Hamrlik and Ryder had "therapy" days. So this should be enough bodies to cover if some of these guys can't go tomorrow. If Hamrlik can't go, Dandy would play D and a forward would draw in.

In case you're wondering about the callups, I guess Chipchura is out for 7-10 days with a shoulder injury, so he was unavailable. Not sure what the deal is with Locke, as he's the only other guy that had played a game with us this year on the Bulldogs left. From what I can gather, while D'Agostini remains a legit prospect for the team, Stewart might be up as a bit of a reward for his hard work... there doesn't appear to be a big future plan for him, but hey, good for him.

One thing we do know: Price will start vs. Buffalo.

Grabovski and Ryder weren't at the morning skate, so it looks like at least one of the callups will get in their first game tonight.

Bouillon also skated this morning, as did (presumably) Kovalev and Hamrlik.

Yep, not Grabovski or Ryder tonight. Ryder is out with "a bad leg", Grabovski still out with the flu. So Matt D'Agostini will replace Ryder in the lineup tonight, playing in his first NHL game. His Bulldog teammate Greg Stewart won't dress.

A Kositsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Higgins - S Kostitsyn - D'Agostini
Latendresse - Lapierre - Dandenault
Begin - Smolinski - Kostopolous

Markov - Gorges
Hamrlik - O'Byrne
Streit - Brisebois
