Awesome pics, guys... Alas, I have yet to put up my display case and attendant Nuck paraphernalia (which is pretty much limited to a Matchbox-sized toy Zamboni with a Nuck logo on it... Mad ).

Bosc, those are wise words from Harmie... Beware the call of the Mothership, my friend.

She thought of a couple of paint colours for the living room and the bathroom that I actually agree with.

The concern is do you... or have you been lead to believe you do.

At first I just wanted to keep the walls white, but after thinking about it I do actually agree with them.

And thus the 'conversion' begins... Time for an intervention, gentlemen!

Oh so it's the wall's telling you what to do not the girl.

That's good because crazy sure is better than joining the mothership.

Oh yeah: When buying A/V cables, never buy em from big box stores like Best Buy or Futureshop if you're going to buy brand name stuff. I'm getting a retail box 2m DVI-HDMI Monster cable off of ebay for less than 12 bucks, and 12 bucks shipping. The frikkin cable sells for 125 bucks from Best Buy or Future Shop. The markup that those places have on cables and accessories is insane. People go in and buy a tv or comp getting a good deal, and figure they are getting a good deal on all the accessories. Crazy...

Fuck Monster. Biggest marketing $uck ever. I paid the minimum for 6" no-name HDMI-HDMI cables (maybe $Cool online somewhere and they work just fine (from the DVD player to the A/V receiver). Monster would've asked for at 5x that at least.

Oh way more than that. I love how that's the only brand of cable that some of the places sell. Insane markup on it(someone I work with used to work at Best Buy, he says monster cables are usually half of the sticker price with employee discount, so they mark them up even more than 100%). This one I found on ebay for 10 bucks, 22 with shipping. Retails for 125. Fuck that noise. Circuit City brand one is 50 bucks. Same cable at computer outlet stores? 30 bucks.

Me, a dude downstairs and his buddy fixed my mirrored closet doors on the weekend so they can actually open and close. Now I'm all pumped to replace the shitty laminate flooring in my condo and maybe do mirrored closet doors in my bedroom. Or I can leave those and plaster Red Wings and Pink Floyd posters all over them.

Damn, I just found this poster on ebay that I'd love to buy and get plaqued, which I have never seen before in poster form. It's old, and completely unwrapped and brand new:

Unfortunately, there's a week left and the thing is already up to $67 Shocked Mad Mad Mad Evil or Very Mad

You'd have no money left for the drugs needed to enjoy the poster.

Looks like I'm buying the tv on Saturday. Probably some speakers too, because the package they I wanted was on sale and I also have a $50 off 500+ purchase coupon. I tried to get a deal on a tv+PS3 because they had a deal with tv+Ps3+home theatre in a box, but I don't need the htiab and the jerks said that that piece is where you get the savings, so no luck. Mad

As I recall, HDMI is a standard, isn't it? If the cable qualifies as HDMI, then so long as there is no chance of external echanical failure (ie. if there's no chance that something else could cut or break the cable), a $12 6' HDMI = $72 6' Mon$ter HDMI cable. You can get these online for far cheaper than what Mon$ter wants you to pay...

Which TV is that? Be careful of those HTIAB... they can be pretty cheesy from what I've seen... and PS3 isn't nec. backward compatible with PS2 games...

Wikipedia wrote:

Cable price gouging

Opportunistic cable manufacturers have marketed electrically identical 6-foot cables for as little as 10 dollars, all the way up to 200 dollars. Because the digital datastream is less susceptible to interference than its analog equivalent, the picture quality is similar on properly functioning cables, regardless of price, especially for short cables. [12]

Buyer beware, indeed.

Fuck Mon$ter.

Who knows, maybe the connectors and insulation are different, but I'm sure as hell not going to pay 125 fucking dollars for a 6' Monster DVI->HDMI cable from a retail outlet. I picked it up the same Monster cable on ebay for a grand total of 25 dollars after shipping. I haven't seen any in stores regardless of brand name cheaper than that.

Debating between the standard 720p 40" Sony(40S3000), or the 120Mhz model(40D3000), or the 1080p (40V3000). With my viewing distance, I don't think 1080 will be discernably different in quality than the 720, so I'm leaning towards the 120MHz one depending on the price difference.

I'm not buying the HTIAB. I've already got a stereo system and I don't need the disc carousel. Not worth the additional $, which I don't exactly have to spend anyways.

Missed this, sorry Jay. Yeah it's vinyl. You can see the record player between the two speakers at the top of the first shot.

Bought the 40D3000. All hooked up and running, I like it Very Happy

Only problem is that my computer won't boot into windows when using a DVI to HDMI connection, so I'm forced to use the VGA connection until I get it figured out. Still looks awesome though.

Interesting this 40D3000. I tend to be a TV bitch myself and am waiting for a significant price drop on the 46" XBR4.......I've contemplated the Samsung 4671 but I don't like the clear screen....much rather have matte with 120 refresh.

Might make a trial run and buy a smaller one so I can mount it in the boy's room.

Friggin weird...it won't boot up with the DVI to HDMI connection, but I can boot it up on the VGA connection and just switch the cables...
