Hardly matters when Ilya is scoring all the goals.

Shero's an idiot. He could have gotten at least Bryan Little for him if he had just called Waddell.

Sadly, you're probably right.

So, because the Pens were trying to bring him back from the minors, they're on the hook for half his salary?
I don't see how it should matter if he was on the way down or on the way up...

It has positive and negative effects.

The positive: If a team has the room, it gives players a more likely chance to play in the NHL. (Recchi's case)

The negative: Teams hold a NHL quality player in the minors for fear of losing the asset and getting a cap penalty (Labarbera in LA last year).

I still can't believe the Canes didn't pick him up. Your telling me they couldn't waive Letowski? or that they like Letowski better than Recchi? I know Recchi is slow, but how fast does he need to be to get 4th line minutes and stand in front of the net on the PP?

Letowski raped the Habs on faceoffs on Saturday. Are you sure he's so expendable?

Maybe the 'Canes did put a claim in on him, but Atlanta had higher priority.

Or are you saying the 'Canes should've picked him up at full cost, not just wait for the half-price discount?

No actually it was written somewhere that the team didn't even bother to put in a claim on him.

Is there still a waive priority list?

Basically it's bottom to top of the standings, with some exceptions based on if you've made claims previously in the season I think.

Recchi will be 40 years old very soon. He's not big nor is he fast. He had great puck sense and smarts to be in position to score and that lasted alot longer than most players similar to him. But he's done now, finished. He can't check and grind, he can't kill penalties so he's no use on the 4th line. It's no disrespect to Rechhi, a player from Kamloops where I used to live. Everyone gets old and he lost a step he couldn't afford to lose. Letowski has speed, something that can be utilized on the PK and keeps him around as a 4th liner. Once he loses a step he'll be a goner as well.

If it were anyone but Therrien that had dropped him off the lineup, I'd probably agree. Wink
