The Dark Knight trailer, Summer 2008...
Heath Ledger as the Joker ... I love Jack Nicholson, but that one was far too campy... Hopefully, the Brokeback Wonder will do a good job... _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Looks awesome, and it looks like Christopher Nolan has gotten a hang of doing action scenes, he was still a bit too "artsy" in those on "Batman Begins," my one and only complaint of that film. Hopefully this new film doesn't fall into the same trap as the Burton/Schumacher films, too many characters, villains that take over the plot leaving Batman himself marginalized. All in all though looks like a great new take on the Joker.

Indeed... I loved Batman Begins; the addition of more cool toys (the motorcycle is called the BatPod, from what I hear; I wonder if Steve Jobs is kicking himself for not getting trademark rights to that... ) and the promise of a really dark Joker is great... Wasn't too keen on the ScareCrow as the villain in Begins, but Ras-Al-Gul was great. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

The first two Burton-series films weren't horifically campy... in fact, the buzz of the day was how much darker and more morbid they were than the TV show Batman that everyone was used to at that point.
I think Nicholson's Joker was pretty good. To be honest, based on this preview alone, Ledger's doesn't look immensely different (except that his makeup looks way worse). _________________

I liked Jack as the Joker plenty... So much so that Batman really wasn't as interesting (Michael Keaton... WTF?) in that movie and adding what's her name as eye candy looked desperate. Joker's supporting bad guys, Joker prancing around to bad hip hop muzak, and the score was what made it very campy for me. Dark relative to the TV Batman, yes, but it still played down to the campy roots of the TV Batman... Batman Begins seems much more grown up (Mrs. Tom Cruise, notwithstanding). _________________ ... Maggie Gy... [insert correct spelling]? Hmmm... not so hot.
Ledger looks pretty good as the Joker. I wish they had ol' Jack play it a bit more menacingly, but I suppose that would have alienated the larger and richer group that knew Batman as Adam West.
This could be interesting if Bale stops doing his best impersonation of Kevin Costner. Seeing him beside Freeman and Caine was sometimes painful to watch. _________________ The fans represent the soul of the organization. This is their team. Us, we simply try to make it better. One of my favorite things about "Batman Begins" is it succeeded where none of the films, series, or even comic books could in making Alfred an living, breathing character and not just a dopey butler sidekick.
Don't like Maggie? You obviously haven't seen "Secretary." She may not be terribly good-looking but just watch her in that film, I bet it changes your opinion. If nothing else I look forward to her being a far more believable junior DA...I just never bought Katie Holmes in that role.
The joker's gotta be one of the toughest characters to bring to life to the big screen...I like the idea of his "smile" being scars instead of just makeup or the results of bad plastic surgery.
Really looking forward to this film...something tells me this'll be the last good one in this incarnation of the franchise. I'm betting both Bale and Nolan bolt after this one (unless Bale is signed on for more, don't know) and some hack takes over doing a pale imitation. Besides, the rogues gallery runs awfully thin after this, and I'm not really all that psyched to see Nolan's interpretation of the Penguin or Catwoman... |

Oh my god I LOVED Secretary!
Sam/Ghost - you have to see Secretary - it will totally change your mind about Maggie Gyllenhaal. I promise!

For Duke Nukem fans... The trailer looks ok. Not a big fan of it myself. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.
