How much you wanna bet JL Spears is fired...err..sorry... she decides to "focus on being a mother" and "pursue other opportunities".

When white trash has money

May be a good name for a TV show, huh?

Honestly, I feel very bad for those children having to grow up w/ parents like that.

Geeze-O-Pete. I was going to ask what happened to good roles models. But then I realized that good role models do not make "good press".

I blame the 'Fifth Estate'. They say that they are only giving the public what it wants, and yet, most of the "public" are non-thinking followers. Most of the public will take without question what is in print or on teevee.

The press can stop publicizing these trash people. They can, for instance, publicize Denzel Washington, who gave over 1 million dollars to wounded veterans and who turned down movies to make time to visit American soldiers on several battle fronts.

But we don't hear about that do we? Why? Because the "press" decides what we consume. "yellow" journalism does NOT have to be the norm. Not enough intelligent people have protested this trend. At least in the U.S.

I like how the URL begins with "OMG"... like even Yahoo is slapping its collective forehead and going, "Seriously?! We gotta report this shit?"

Seriously, though, you kind of have to feel for a baby when the entire world knows you were an accident.

Teenage pregnancy... it shouldn't be funny. But it is.

Hey she still advocates teens not having sex.

Now more than ever I would imagine.

What I don't get is are not most men and women happier with Oral anyway? That's what we should be teaching these kids.. Also do the major religions treat Oral sex as "sex" or see it more in the Bill Clinton light?

Should've taken Britney's advice and remained a virgin until marriage.

No. Considering what her daughters are like and what they've likely picked up, I don't want to know what kind of surprises the Mom has.

Lilith, I think you mean the Fourth Estate, if you're referring to the media.

You do bring up a good point though - is this yellow journalism? No doubt its sensational, and we are collectively laughing at a girl who no doubt is very scared and made a mistake that happens to too many young people.

I say it isn't because it seems she and her mother agreed to be interviewed by OK magazine, and its likely they approached the publication since there's really no way anyone outside her circle could have found out about a pregnancy two weeks in. There are instances of yellow journalism when tabloids are actively seeking the most horrible and embarrassing stories about celebrities when they have no relevance, such as purposely placing your camera to catch that Lindsay Lohan no-panties shot.

I have a good idea about how news rooms work, and the cycle at, let's say CNN, is sort of like this: celebrity stuff is largely fed to journalists through independent agencies (like TMZ looking for props on a national newscast) and publicists who more often than not lead paparazzi to their clients. When Denzel donated a million dollars, it's altogether likely he and his publicist didn't tell anyone, or put out a press release, meaning busy journalists simply have too much on their plates to actively seek out this good, little story. It sucks I know, but you get inundated with so much stuff from people who want you to tell their story, often the good stuff goes unnoticed.

Actually El - I think the 4th estate now refers to print media. The 5th estate is electronic, which at the time meant T.V.

I tend to ignore most mainstream (i.e. private) media stories now since it's become too similar to tabloids for the most part. Even the Globe is starting to go downhill since CTV bought it.

Yeah, I've heard alternative media described as the fifth estate, but someone already defined the fifth estate in the early 20th century as the dull nobodies, so it doesn't really apply.

The fourth estate covers all media, even the little guys. There's no reason to change centuries-old handles if they work.
