Torchwood started out terribly - total cheeze without remorse - it was laughably bad. They have however 'buffied' it a bit as it now makes fun of itself and from what I understand has become quite fun. I watched it for a couple of episodes but it didn't keep me. I'm planning on giving it a second chance.
As for Tennent, he'll be returning to Dr Who once his run with the RSC is finished. Damn I love how the English stars can pull shit like that. He gets mad props for stuff like that. In the us $$$$$ gets in the way of an artist way too much... _________________ The crowd once again showed its IQ level when it shouted ``U-S-A, U-S-A,'' during the fight. I still really like Gene Simmons Family Jewels. As reality shows go, I give it at least 3/5 pucks... _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

I stand corrected... This is a great show. At least 4/5 pucks. Now I understand that there might be some staging of events but Gene actually comes across as a very sweet, loving, family-man. For a demon, that is. I'm hooked. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.

Just saw the US ratings for last week and American Idol and Dancing with Stars makes up the top four...crazy.
Now I do admit to watching Hell's Kitchen so I to can be a demographic number as well and am not an "elitist" or anything. I watch it for my interest in all things Gordon Ramsay as I just really like the guy and I still know it is at it's heart an awful FOX reality show that has no interest in finding legit chief talents and more about bringing out the train wrecks so Ramsay can call them stupid Donkeys. _________________ It's not you Sundin, it's me...please just leave...and don't look back....please please do not look back. |

Did anyone happen to see Boston Legal last night? Does anyone here watch Boston Legal?
It was amazing. They took the Democratic Party to court over the whole delegate/superdelegate issue and the show explained the whole joke that is the primary process. It was hilarious, and taught me something I didn't fully understand!

Swingtown
Yes, it's set in the 70s. Yes, Grant Show sports a porn 'stache. Yes, there's plenty of spuse-swapping. And yes, Lana Parrilla is extraordinarily HOT, but really, what I thought was going to be more of a gimmick than a show has turned out to be a pretty entertaining summer replacement! I don't want to get bogged down in details...it's not a masterpiece but still a fun show, and not a cheap "That 70s Show" ripoff.
3.5 pucks.
I will review another series, Mad Men, once I get through the DVDs... |

Burn Notice has started its second season, and am enjoying as much as the first so far. Gabrielle Anwar, however, is at serious serious risk of becoming all overtanned and leathery, though. Thankfully, the producers have foreseen this, and have cast the ever-so-yummy Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica's Caprica Six) in the role of Carla, Michael Westen's, mysterious -uhm- handler. _________________ ... I quit trying with Swingtown on Episode 3... for being about swingers, I found it excruitatingly dull. The only summer repireve I've had is just watching Wipeout, which is more just because of it essentially just being MXC/Takishi's Castle on a different course.
I caught up and watched all the episodes of Peep Show this summer, which isn't terribly hard to do as there are only 30. It's a UK 1/2 hour comedy on Channel 4 over there, and could well be the funniest series of all time. All the episodes are on YouTube if you want to check it out. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

I watched the whole first season of Mad Men a few weeks ago over the course of a weekend where I was couch-bound with one of those terrible summer colds.
Did you end up watching it Tommy? if so, how did you like it ?
My verdict - I love Mad Men.
What a smart sexy funny show.
I like that the writers lead you down a road where you think you know what will happen next - and then they don't go there!

I like what I see so far after the first DVD. They do a phenomenal job of showing how racist and sexist men were in 1960 and yet you end up liking nearly all of them (except for that prick Pete Campbell). I have to admit Don Draper is about the most intriguing characters to come on the small screen in a long time...so far the only thing I know is that there's a BIG skeleton in his closet, I'm looking forward to finding out what it is.
BTW, any of you watch "Flashpoint?" CBS imported it as a summer replacement...I find it strange the creators go out of their way to hide the fact that it's a show about Canadian cops set in Canada. Why not add some flavor to it, it just comes off as a generic cop show otherwise... |
