I know it's not supposed to be my place to start this but hey, you turnip worshippers haven't started a thread yet and it's only one hour to go before game time.
Whoever wins this game in regulation will finish the Christmas break first in the division and second overall in the West. Luongo has been marvelous since returning from injury. He'll need to be again if the 'Nucks want to have any chance of getting points out of this game. Vancouver played last night in Phoenix and with the rarified air in Denver maybe sucking wind by the third period. The Evil Empire are hurting right now, Burnaby Joe still has his groin injury which is keeping him out for the 12th straight game, Canuck killer Ryan Smith is on the shelf with a stiff neck. Jordan Leopold is also out of the lineup. That hasn't stopped the Evils from winning 5 straight games with the other Canucks killer Hejduk, Wolski and Stasny picking up the scoring. Colorado is very good in scoring, being 5th in league offence. It is on defence where Scott Hannan hasn't lived up to his free agent signing, and goal where Theodore and Budaj continue to be inconsistent. For the Canucks, the loss of Morrison means the PP sucks and Taylor Pyatt has gone asleep without him. The Sedins and Naslund continue to supply most of the offence with Ryan Kesler popping the odd goal. Still, with Luongo making like he has a blue suit with a red cape, I will predict a 2-1 OT Evilanche win. |

I agree, the Avs aren't the arch enemy of yore but it should be a good game none the less.

I thought the Evilanche looked like they were getting stronger and skating much better than Vancouver in the third; the Cunticles didn't look dangerous at all in the third. Funny how MP called out Pyatt and he scores the only goal. Luongo didn't look so good on that goal by McCormick and was helpless on the Brunette goal. I think the Canucks might have taken the 'Lanche sans Sakic and Smythe far too lightly. _________________ ... Because the old one, is well, old.
