I'm thinking about getting some new mitts.

Do I go NHL-spec and try to be a hot shot, or do I say "F it, we all know I'm not in the NHL, I'm going to get the biggest thing I can find!"??

My advice would be to find some goalie-specific shops like donsimmons.com or look on ebay for the old stuff. A lot of places are clearing out their old-spec gear, so not only will you get bigger gear, you can probably find it for a lot cheaper than the newer, smaller stuff.

I kept buying and reselling used gloves till I established what I like and then at that point bought new. Went through used gloves in Bauer, Heaton, and Smith and then bought a full set of Smiths once I had already established they where right for me.

Gloves are funny in the sense that depending on your game the lighter pro-spec glove can help your performance more than extra blocking area.

My game basically boils down to "I'll take all the help I can get". ;P

Well I can't say enough good things about Smith gear both in quality and as a business. If you don't mind waiting 7-8 weeks for gloves to be made then I would absolutely say give his site a look over...the stuff is a deal at the price plus it is made in NY state. Wink

Pete just added a new graphic option that is now on his Website.

Plus, how about a long thread of Smith talk.
