I just saw Kris Beech was picked up from the waiver wire by the Canucks & was thinking back to the Jagr trade ...
Who was the knob that put this deal together for the Penguins!?

Pittsburgh Penguins traded Jaromir Jagr and Frantisek Kucera to the Washington Capitals for Kris Beech, Michal Sivek, Ross Lupaschuk and future considerations.
Jagr:

2003-04 Washington NHL 46 16 29 45 (then was dealt to the Rags)
Kucera:

Beech:

09-Sep-05: Pittsburgh Penguins traded Kris Beech to the Nashville Predators for a conditional draft pick.

Now with HC Sparta Praha, Cze
Lupaschuk:

Jagr would be a good wing for Crosby.

I'd say the Pens wouldn't have gotten Crosby if they had kept Jagr (heck they would've gone belly up), but the Caps got Ovechkin after Jagr so that's a bit of a moot point.

They almost had Ovechkin too, but lost that draft lottery

| Pittsburgh had huge money problems then, and Beech was at one time EXTREMELY coveted. That wasn't such a bad deal... |

Lupaschuk was considered a top 4 lock at that point, too.
