Looks that way. That salary would make him the 4th highest paid goalie in the NHL for next year, but the third highest cap hit (Kipper will make $8m next year but only count $5.83m against the cap; Khabibulin and Luongo are the other two).

This places him ahead of Giguere, Turco, and Vokoun in pay scale.

Jagr's going to be the most interesting UFA this summer.

Well the Rags are certainly set in goal and at center for the next few years. And that D will be solid, if not spectacular. It's just a shame they're likely going to struggle mightily to score goals from here on out...let's hope Cherepanov proves himself a worthwhile NHLer.

Any idea what their plans are with Shanny and Jagr?

With King Henrik in net, Montoya is a good asset that they could deal for some goal scoring. Will they take a serious run at Redden and/or Hossa in the offseason?

There are some founded rumours out there that Jagr might go to Russia when his contract is up. He's indicated he'd like to go back after enjoying himself there during the lockout.

I'd say the Rangers will try and be in play for a big name UFA if there is one of that caliber out there, and Hossa's as big as it gets. They have the Rob Niedermeyer advantage on that one as well, which can't hurt.
