I thought Kaberle was one of the few Toronto Maple Leafs without one. Apparently not:
| Quote: |
Tomas Kaberle, TOR - NTC [conditional; if Leafs miss playoffs in 2008 or 2009, can be traded without his consent in the following offseason]
Pavel Kubina, TOR - NTC [limited, can only be traded to pre-specified teams]
Bryan McCabe, TOR - NMC
Mats Sundin, TOR - NMC
Darcy Tucker, TOR - NTC [effective until July 1, 2010] |

Fletcher can play Hardball, work with us on a good trade now or enjoy your stay in Edmonton next year. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |

Rumour has it that Philly offered up potential career #1/#2 pivot Jeff Carter Kaberle.
Really, there's 29 other teams who want Kaberle - with the contract he has, I'd be happy seeing him remain in Toronto.
Another rumour had Bryan McCabe waiving the "no-movement" to go over to Long Island in exchange for Trent Hunter & a defense prospect.

By the time we will be anygood again Kabs contract will be up, move him.
Anything to get out of McCabe's contract would be nice...then again we want to suck even more next year with Tavarase in the mix so maybe McCabe being around is not such a bad thing. Make McCabe and Kubina your number one pair and play them twenty five minutes a night.

Agreed. At this point getting rid of anyone on this team for youth and picks would be nice-especially any of the defenseman JFJr signed to ridiculous contracts.
I would have pulled the trigger on Carter for Kaberle...although Kabs is one of the only players on the team that can move the puck. |

I'm not sure how Philly would have been able to do that. They're at 49 million for next year without Carter on the books, so they would have been faced with the same problem that Anaheim was with Niedermayer coming back - they'd be well over the limit for next season. Though I'm not sure how Rathje's contract figures into that. _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

I don't have anything to confirm this, but (Sportsnet?) during the Leafs game - intermission last night; they mentioned that Kaberle turned aside $1.5 million additional in his contract in order to have a 'no-trade'.
Really, It's ultimately up to Sundin, Kaberle, McCabe, Kubina & Tucker if they are going to be dealt to a contender or not.
I can understand a player not wanting to move & relocate the family of course, but in Sundin's instance, he will be a UFA & can always keep his pad in Toronto & return in July.
JFJ unfortunately caved in on agent's requests & put together quite the monster here.
What was his first move as GM anyway? I believe it was either the Brad Boyes for Owen Nolan or the Brian Leetch deal? Or did Quinn still have the reins then? _________________

Dude have you seen the threads on OTP about Vancouver real estate costs? California looks nice so that can't be an option.
I've only ever looked at Detroit across the river from Windsor, but based on what I could see I'd imagine rent is affordable there. _________________ psssssssssssssshhh....bing bong ping bong bing bong...pssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh. |
