Larry Brooks in one of his many silly columns strongly suggested the Rags pick up Bobby Holik as a rental at the deadline. I don't know how he and Jagr worked together, they only played just part of one season together as far as I know, but it's possible the two of them could work. Also, unlike Holik's last stint in NY, he would have some talent above him on the depth chart so that he's not trying to be the kind of center he isn't, something he's had to do both as a Ranger and a Thrasher. And it wouldn't hurt for the Rangers to have a shutdown center, seeing as how they're definitely in need of defense--Henrik can't do it all alone.
Obviously some considerations to keep in mind is what the Rags should part with (perhaps include Jarrko Immonen in a package deal, he looks like the odd man out among the young center the Rags have in the system now) and what kind of cap room NY has.
Whatever, just trying to drum up some traffic and discussion in here. |
