RECAP
There was no time for chit-chat even, Foote arrived right as the puck dropped at Pengrowth and had to hustle to the locker room, he made it onto the ice later in the game.
Avs notch a nice come-from-behind victory marked with some of the Avs' usual struggles on special teams and some plain shit-ass luck. Robyn Regehr's shot while on the PK pinballed off Foote's stick, then Hannan's skate and into the net to give the Flamers a 2-1 lead in the 2nd. Ridiculous.
Fortunately, Stastny came through and scored the tying and OT winning goals. While I'm not thrilled to be handing Calgary a point, a win is a win and the Avs need all they can get.
Didn't see too much of the game, had to run before Foote could make it onto the ice, but Q has GOT to figure out what is wrong with the power play. No more excuses, Liles didn't get traded like a lot of people (including me) thought he would, so it's now time for him to buck up and finish strong. I'm hoping both Foote and Salei help our deplorable PK, but they're not going to factor into helping our league-worst power play. If Q can't figure out how to fix that before the end of the year then it's time to get the hell rid of Granato...that was about the ONLY thing he did right when he took over as head coach.
Anyway, Salei needs to bash some orca heads tonight...the Avs did a good job on paper at least of making themselves tougher on D, now it needs to show. |
