Well, it's still unofficial, but the most points the Blackhawks can now get is 93 points... that likely won't be good enough.
Now... should they tank or go out swinging? I don't think it matters anymore. It'd be cool if they went on a roll, passed Nashville and finished 2nd in the Central, even if it was meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
Of their outgoing UFA's, I think that Jason Williams is the only one really worth investing in beyond this next year. If they could move Khabibulin then signing Lalime might make some sense, but really they have to get Crawford up with the team. He never dominated the AHL, but I have to think that having such a fluctuating roster with all the injuries in Chicago has been part of the reason he hasn't done so.
This is Toews' team next year. He'll be named captain and will be expected to be the leading scorer at age 20. Kane, Sharp, and Byfuglien are the top winger options on the team... Havlat will be in his last season and I wonder if they'll move him now. I can't imagine the return he'd get due to his injury history. Lang will likely be retained, with Bolland being pushed into a more prominent role.
The D... will they try and land the big fish back there? A Campbell or Redden signing? Or will they just try and have Barker sink or swim as the puckmoving pointman?
The future is almost now, I suppose. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say? Anything that doesn't mention that I masturbate over her memory is probably a good idea."

Are they really expecting Toews to lead the scoring? I'd think that Kane probably would, but Toews being the better player overall.
I wouldn't be surprised if Toews is captain next year. He got an A this year already, but I can't remember when. Would they give him the C already over Seabrook and Keith? _________________ Bring back the old OTP!

Given the trend in the NHL, yes he'll be captain. And Toews is better than Kane. In every way... and that's no slight to Kane. It's like Gretzky and Kurri or Lemieux and Jagr. _________________ "Oh my God. There she is. Lovely Sally Slater. I should speak to her. But what the hell can I say?
