| After 9 games the Manitoba Moose are 5-3-1. Bourdon is playing well on the farm, he has 3g 4a 7pt in those games. Josef Balej leads the team with 9 pt, Jaffray has 8 pt. The big surprise is PC Labrie. He went pointless in the first 5 games and has scored 3g 3a 6 pt in the last 4 Moose games. He, Bourdon and Jaffray have been physical and getting fighting majors as well as scoring. I'm impressed with Balej and Jaffrey in that they didn't pull the pouting routine that Jesse Schultz/Brandon Reid pulled when they didn't make the big squad. Any of the four deserve a chance with the Canucks for call up based on their play so far. Grabner has been OK, not spectacular for his first pro season with 2g 3 a 5pt in 9 games. Schneider isn't starting off well, he is prone to giving up the odd bad goal and the Moose seem to win when MacIntyre's in net. Hansen played his first game last night after coming back from injury. |

Dan Gendur -- a quintessential Ron Delorme "WTF?" pick in the seventh round last offseason -- is quietly doing very well with the Everett Silvertips. He's playing with a couple of highly-touted prospects in Kyle Beach and Zach Hamill, but apparently hasn't looked out of place. He's currently second in Silvertip scoring with 7 goals, 14 assists for 21 points in 14 games, a -1 and 16 PIM.

I'm guessing that they want to give Raymond plenty of playing time what with the long break between games; they'll probably be recalling him sooner rather than later...
On the other hand, all of these injuries mean another farmhand gets a shot: Hansen is getting called up...

Bourdon has apparently been impressing as of late in Winnipeg, where he has 3-5-8 in 10 games:

| He's also been very phsyical and dropping the mits too apparently. Im feeling better again about Bourdon , he dipped a bit this past season .. I've been waiting to see how he does in the AHL. So far so good , lots to do and go. |

I'd keep him down there all year. If he's progressing at that level, that's a good thing. Compared to not progressing while in the Q (which happens). Could be a similar situation to Barker in Chicago. He didn't do any improving in the W after being drafted, and didn't do much last year with half a season in Chicago. He's back in the AHL, and it's probably for the best (though I don't know if he's also stagnant there or really stepping up).

I agree about Luc staying down for the whole season and gaining valuable experience and confidence as a first year pro unless there's a slew of injuries on the Canucks D. Having Jason Spezza in the A and playing Eric Staal down there during the lockout didn't hurt their progress. Besides, defence is the one position it takes longer for players to mature at.
The reason Hansen is being called up after one AHL game is because of the injuries to Balej, Shannon and Jaffray. With Raymond not ready for prime time, AV had to look at that roster and go with Hansen. They know what Hansen can do as opposed to the 10 games Labrie has played as a pro and it maybe too early to put Pierre in an NHL lineup. |

I picture him emerging from a misty corridor, with the theme of "The Running Man" playing in the background.
We're hoping to count on him to be a monster, a cornerstone for the defense, etc., and you just know he'll get killed by the metaphorical Arnold Schwarzenegger (be it injuries, confidence loss, whatever) with the greatest of ease very quickly.

| That flick was filled with Arnoldisms.... my favourite was after he cut one of the hunters , Buzzsaw with his own chainsaw up the groin and afterwards Arnold meets up with his crew and somebody asks "where's Buzzsaw?" ..classic Arnold " he had to split"..man, thats good writing. |

I don't know if that could compare to the 213 "cold" puns made in Batman and Robin. Of course, you probably have too much self-respect to have seen that.

I thought he was great in that one. Im a big fan of Arnold's cheeziness
Anybody remember Commando , the final battle.. Arnold spears a pipe into the chest of the bad guy who happened to be standing in front of a industrial sized hot water tank . When the pipe speared right through him into the tank , steam shoots out of the pipe as the bad guy dies and Arnold closes it out " Let off some steam , Bennett" ... people were robbed of an Oscar that year.

the best part of the Colorado game was seeing Edler's developement . Edler looks like the 10th overall pick and Bourdon looks like the project prospect.
Looking forward to seeing Hansen over the next few weeks along with Bourdon and Edler. |

The legend of Alexander Edler continues to grow.
Fans back in Vancouver are awfully excited about what he's shown so far, at so young an age. Edler was born right as Expo '86 was starting and has played all of 30 NHL games in his life -- yet by all accounts is playing like a seasoned veteran, and that goes all the way back to his very first game. He's gotten the HFBoards-equivalent of a wood thread going over there on that site.
I don't get to see him play, so this is all second-hand, but it's still something to make the Canuck fans smile. (And then frown when thinking of the career-threatening injury he will inevitably face as a member of the Canuck blueline corps).
The fact that the Wings were apparently scouting Edler hard and racing the Canucks to get him is an experience the Canucks should learn from. In fact, they should stop scouting players -- they should just scout the Wings' scouts.
