I used this goalie once in NHL 2008. He wasn't anything special.

I would have thought that after 3 seasons in the A that Crawford would be the full-time back up for 08-09.

Niemi is the goaltender version of Brunnstrom right now. This is about the starting job, not the backup job.
And maybe Niemi isn't quite ready. At age 24, he can spend a year in the AHL, and Crawford could be the backup for next year.
This is very similar to the whole Backstrom/Harding scenario when Fernandez was still with the Wild.

I like the comments there on Mirtle's blog. Apparently there's a goalkeeper for Fulham in the EPL of the same name.

| Hawks should make a play for Antero Niiiitiiiimakiiii this offseason, that way they have the interesting and confusingly named goalie tandem in the league. |
